If I create a WAS application using DBF files as the back end and then convert the data to MySQL, will all the XBasic scripts I wrote work with the data in MySQL format? If not, how do I rewrite them to make them work?

Yes, but the MySQL support has not yet been released.

So, this can be done, but not yet?

yes. once we release the c/s version of a5, xbasic scripts that work against .dbf files will work against mySQL tables.

that's because the c/s version gives you the option of creating a 'linked table'. a link table appears to a5 as if it were a .dbf file, even though internally it is just mapped to the mySQL database. so, using linked tables, everything will work identically to how it works now.

Incredible! But that raises the inevitable question -- when? :-)

we hope to start making betas of the c/s version available before year end.
