Scott,

Have you asked your ISP to offer the service?

Hi Keith

Only if I have it on a seperate box - which is cost prohibitive. In the office we can only have 512/256 ASDL, which I would doubt would be sufficient (to host ourselves) with reasonable response times with more than 1 or 2 users on - then there is the firewall, a box off our network to run it on, UPS etc - it all starts to adds up either way.

What are others using?

Regards,
Scott

Scott,

I have asked if the Alpha ISP could host. I am sure they have got an ISP offering a server service. I do believe that Alpha should make a strong effort to make servers aware that there will be a demand for this.

We are hosting internally on a development system. We cannot offer customer accounts on this system.

We should be announcing some hosting partners in the near future.

Wayne, take a look at the thread at the very top of this message board - "Firm Support and Alpha Software - web hosting"

Are there currently no other alternatives?

FirmSupoprt is currently the only ISP that is ready to offer shared hosting services. We are working with some other ISPs, but they are not yet ready to go live.

Just about any ISP will let you install any software you'd like if you have a dedicated server with them. This is more expensive than being on a shared system, but it is another option you have.
