Is there a way of sorting an embedded browse which is a child database in a form of its respective set. It appears that that its only sort order is by record number.

Specifically, the child database is linked to its parent database via an employee ID number. Therefore on this form I can view the specific records which are linked to this employee ID but the problem is its sort order is only available by the child database record number. I would like the ability to sort by other fields in this child's database ; specifically a date field.

Yes, but...

For example: Assume the ID_numb field is a character field (as is should be!!) and the child database contains the employee names. To sort by the last name, the parent link would be ID_numb and the child link would be ID_numb + Last_name.

The only issue with this is that referential integrity cannot be maintained because the linking fields do not match.

We do a lot of sorting of child databases. Cal is right, just add a field to the linking key. In many instances we would like th child sorted in decending date order. That way, you see the last activity first.

example:

connecting activity to case records:

parent linking field: fullcase (char 15)

child linking field fullcase +invert(cdate(date))

This will attach all children with fullcase as key in decending order of DATE.
