I'm doing a data recovery for an Alpha User who does not know the filename extensions of alpha associated files. I would surely appreciate knowing what these filename extensions are (e.g. .DBF?)

Alan - assume a data base file named "foo", then :

foo.dbf = the data base file
foo.mdx = it's indexes
foo.fpt = it's memo file

foo.dd? = (3) files containing "foo's" data dictionary,
forms,reports, etc.

foo.s?? = (3) files for a "set" named foo, which may or
may not contain "foo" as it's primary
data base. Containss the dictionary, indexes,
forms, reports, etc., for the set

foo.a?? = (3) files for an application named "foo"

As you can see, it is possible to have up to (12) files
with the same name and a different extension.

Does this help ??

Yes it helps very much and was exactly what I needed for the recovery. In appreciation I'd like to send you a complimentary full version of either Ontrack's ZipMagic or Fit-It Utilities. Please E-mail a mailing address.

Again, thank you.
