This is my first time using Alpha five. I have a .DBF file that I can use fine in Lotus Approach. But when I try to use this file in Alpha Five, I get the following error:

Error 1
Table is encrypted using a different key.

There is the way I try to pull the DBF file into Alpha Five:

New Database
type a new database file name tst.adb save

Add new table
enter the dbf file which is stored on the C drive, add
Then I get Error 1.

Can you help?

Try this: copy the .dbf file into the folder where your database (application) resides. Then, open the database to which you want to add the new table and navigate to t5he Control Panel and ckick the 'Tables/Sets' tab. In the white space, right click and select 'Add Table/Set' and select the .dbf file in question. It should now be available and accessible.

I don't know if Lotus Approach supports such a thing as a memo field or not. If it does and if you had a memo field in your .dbf file, you could run into a problem, but let's not worry about that until it becomes a problem.

That is exactly what I did. I created a new database application in a folder called Data2005. The dbf file is also stored in this file (data2005). Then I do "Add new table" and get Error 1.

Attach a copy of the .dbf file to a message and we can take a look at it.
