I would like to learn how to create a list of possible values for a field, on the fly. I have a data entry form with 3 fields:

contact1
contact2
talked_to

I will enter values into the fields contact1 and contact2 and when I get to the field talked_to I would like a list to pop-up that would contain the values typed into contact1 and contact2. I can then select one of the values or have the option on typing in a value that is not in the list.

I have looked at arrays and I have studied layout variables but I am no closer to a solution.

Is this possible? Thanks for any one's help/ideas.

Maby you could create a new table, then use a post operation to post the value of the first two fields to that new table, then have the 3rd field's field rule be set to a table lookup with option to enter new records.

hope this helps

Go to the Help file and run a search on "working with list boxes" - include the quotes.

I believe this is for a list box that is defined on the form rather than a drop-down list box defined in field rules but I could easily be wrong.
