I am trying to parse an input file. The lines look like:

DEALER 187307 20020624 JOE WILLIAMS JOE WILLIAMS 6306 ROCKSPRINGS ARLINGTON TX 76001 8174830488 8174554926 1GBEG25K2SF199516 1995 CHEVROLET G20 VAN 71590 578 GARY EDWARD HECOX C|I|I|C 102.76 22BUZ|22BUZ01|22BUZ02|22BUZ03 BUICK REPAIR|GENERAL REPAIR 1|GENERAL REPAIR 2|GENERAL REPAIR 3 49600 0.00 0 0 102.76 N S 2959|2959|2959|2959 0.00 0.00 55.00

What can be done when the system either hangs or gives an error message that it is out of Windoews memory? I have narrowed the problem down to a fairly simple piece of code I have upload. After reading about 10,150 lines it usually hangs, but ocasionally I get a message that it is out of Windows memory. I'm open for suggestions.

how are you trying to parse this?

have you written an xbasic program, or are you using the Import Operation?

the easiest way to resolve this is to zip up the file you are trying to parse and attach it to a message.

the program snippit that always fails is attached as a doc file. It mostly locks up, but not always in the exact same place. The HALT SCRIPT also doesn't work. I have to use the task manager to stop Alpha 5

nothing was attached to your message.

if you want to send the file that you are trying to parse, and the xbasic script that you are using to parse it with, directly to me at selwyn@alphasoftware.com, I will take a look at it for you.

I e-mailed you the software snippit and the input text file. How come the attachment didn't go? It said it did.
