If version 9 is Platinum, then what will version 10 be? (LOL)

Hmmmm... Maybe Alpha will let users submit ideas... ?

Jim,

That thought crossed my mind too.

Maybe version 10 will be Alpha Five Rhodium.

There are always diamonds, rubys (oh oh - "Ruby on Rails"? - "Ruby on Steroids"?), emeralds, sapphires, etc. Not to mention gold (but I guess platinum is a higher standard). Oil - probably not too sexy and a little sensitive, since oil prices are going through the roof (as is gold).

But actually, that's a good question. Where DO you go after platinum - Platinum Plus? There's always a danger of boxing yourself into a corner with high-sounding terminology. On the other hand, the human mind is infinitely resourceful. They'll come up with something.

But we're getting waaaaay ahead of ourselves here...

You gotta love it. Platinum is barely out of it's embryonic stage and talk of V10 has started!! Hmmm wonder what the pricing structure will be for that one? ;)

Alpha Five may have to focus its marketing efforts on Dubai for v10. :)

I blame Cian - or should that be, thank!!!

It'll be so complicated that you need to purchase the new AlphaMaths (tm) package in order to work it out. ;-)

Ok, or maybe not...

Well, if Alpha rolls from A5 to A6, what will the first sub-version be? Idea... How 'bout "Coal?" (LOL)

We'll, that certainly might work in your part of town ;).

Martin, not Alpha Six. Alpha Seven!

Peter, maybe a special version just for Boston?... "BEANS!" (LOL)

"Beans" might be appropriate for all versions, since Alpha is headquartered just outside of Boston, in Burlington. Not sure that would fly, though.

I kind of like that. At least no other software vendor is naming their versions after vegetables (legumes??, I don't know what beans are)
Might generate some press, and would sure be different.

... maybe NOT such a good idea. Beans to me suggest foul Vaporware!

Quite, too much association with hot air! And all the Beans stuff might get them sued by Sun/Java or whatever...

Now Sugar Snap on the other hand... Or how about Mangetout? ;)

How 'bout "Centurion?"

Well I'm from Tennessee and I think it should obviously be MS.

How about "AlphaX, The Return of the Xbasic"

Hopefully it won't be X-Basic 3...The Last Stand!

If Version 9 is Platinum, then ...................

I guess the old Alpha 5 Version 5 would have been "Aluminum."
