I am starting to delve deeper into the SQL side of A5. In the A5 DBF world you have operations, (Posts, Appends, Summerization, so forth & etc). Are there SQL equivalents? I have setup Active Link tables and used A5 operations to do various things, but most of these are very slow.

There are no SQL equivelents (hint: someone should make a library). The Operations are purely DBF.

So, how do you do the equivalent of these with SQL. I am not looking for a specific answer, more oa general one.

For MySQL there is a very good book by Paul DuBois titled (very creatively) MySQL. About $50 (less on amazon?)

For creating your own operations, read "MySQL Stored Procedures" by Guy Harrison. Lists at $45 ...also less on Amazon.

Or Google the procedure you want.
Get a copy of Toad for Mysql free version.
It will allow you to do all sorts of things.
I've developed an SQL Builder in Alpha which you can use in Toad to build Tables and Primary Keys. (Foreign Key and changes still in development)
