Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    can not access {dialog.object}._dataSeriesData

    i am using a third party java script chart (plotly), if i use static data everything works well.
    i want to get access to published data and use {dialog.object}._dataSeriesData to get access to i, but
    when i try to access the object i can not get to _dataseriesData

    Re: can not access {dialog.object}._dataSeriesData

    The variable is available... it's just that Alpha's doc, inline and online, can be both incomplete and wrong.

    If you want to access the Data Series you've defined, client-side, you must remember to check the box "Publish Data Series data to client side". Doing this will load the {dialog.Object}._dataSeriesData variable with the Data Series data you've defined. Each data series is JSON... e.g.

    Code:
    DLG1_DlgObj._dataSeriesData = {
    	"Series1": {
    		"CUSTOMER_ID": [9,41,42,43],
    		"FIRSTNAME": ['Thomas','Robert','Robert','Fred'],
    		"LASTNAME": ['McMiggan','Smith Record','Fuller','Jones'],
    		"BILL_CITY": ['Cambridge','Cambridge','Cambridge','Cambridge']
    	},
    	"Series2": {
    		"CUSTOMER_ID": [14,21,48,59],
    		"FIRSTNAME": ['Yvonne','Joan','Leonard','Peter'],
    		"LASTNAME": ['Harrington','McAndrews','Burtonski','Harrison'],
    		"BILL_CITY": ['Los Angeles','Los Angeles','Los Angeles','Los Angeles']
    	}
    };

      Re: can not access {dialog.object}._dataSeriesData

      i have double checked the option to publish to project and is correct. i can use the data object in the native JavaScript chart that comes with alpha.
      and it works
      for some reason i can not reference that object in a java script function.

        Re: can not access {dialog.object}._dataSeriesData

        What do you mean "you can't reference it"? You can't see it... as you've shown in your first post? Or it doesn't work for you?

          Re: can not access {dialog.object}._dataSeriesData

          actually both the auto complete does not work, but i can complete it myself and the chart will error out. i can take the dialog statement and put it in the rgraph control in alpha and it works
          as soon as i try to use it in an third party package including a download of rgraph, it will error out.
          i can get the 3rd party to work as long as it is static data.

          at this point i am not trying to use the data in the chart just assign it to a variable and it will error

            What version/build of Alpha are you using? Get into your UX and perform a Menu, Recalculate all controls.

            Seems to be working ok. The autocomplete is not going to work for you... as mentioned... there's a lot missing from the UI.

            Can you post your UX with a sample table?

                The static text - I can see where that would be... I think in a wrong place... but I see it.

                Where do you have the Javascript running where you access the dataSeriesData? Is that in the Javascript functions section?

                And where do you have the rest of the Javascript running?

                If my assumptions are correct... this is starting to make sense.

                  i have all the java script running in the java script section along with the reference to the data series.
                  the data series is defined under the UX properties sections

                    Re: can not access {dialog.object}._dataSeriesData

                    In web and mobile, much as in life, stuff is all a matter of timing.

                    Your Javascript code is running before the component has a chance to finish rendering... and creating the dataSeriesData variable.

                    Also, you're establishing the plotly Javascript library in a place where it may be ok... but may not be... depending, once again, on timing.

                    I usually prefer to put libraries into the UX Property "Javascript Linked files".

                    Keep your Javascript code in the Javascript functions section... but make it a function... e.g.

                    Code:
                    function runPlotly(){

                    	var sx={dialog.object}._dataSeriesData.SCS7805.date;
                    	var sy={dialog.object}._dataSeriesData.SCS7805.Pumped;

                    	var data = [
                    		{
                    			x: ['2017-12-20',	'2017-12-21',	'2017-12-22',	'2017-12-23', '2017-12-28	', '2017-12-29', '	2017-12-30', '2017-12-31'],
                    			y: [493,	453,	199,	487,	339,	235,	474,	148],
                    			type: 'scatter'
                    		}
                    	];

                    .... etc

                    }
                    Now, from a button you can call runPlotly();. The library will have had a chance to load... the UX will have had the time to load the data series, and you can call runPlotly() when you like.

                    Also... you're using a number for a data series name... 7805... but the Data Series you defined is SCS7805.

                      the reason i established the plotly java script how was i was pulling it from GitHub for testing.
                      only problem i have now is getting the data series to plot. i have no errors but no data on plot.
