Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Image control tiny size

    I've got a simple list control which is using 3 UX controls for the detail view. There is a textbox, tickbox and image. The image is based on a BLOB from mysql db.

    It all woks fine for existing records. I can click on a row in the list control, and the ux controls will display the text and image fine. However, when I click on the New Record button, the controls will clear, but the image control goes to a very tiny square.

    I'm using a JS action to open a new record. When I look at the JS it generates, I see this:

    var lObj = {dialog.object}.getControl('PHOTO_LIST');
    lObj.newDetailViewRecord();

    Any idea why this is happening ?

    PS> I recently upgraded to the current pre-release. Not sure if this has caused the problem ?

    Re: Image control tiny size

    A screenshot would be good here. Is the very tiny square a "broken image" image? There are about a thousands settings when working with images and Lists and Detail Views... and the current pre-release is buggier than a biblical swarm of locusts. However, in a test I just created I'm not seeing what you're reporting.

    You've not detailed the Style you're using... and a sample UX and table would be good for reviewing this.

      Re: Image control tiny size

      Hi David,

      See attached screenshots. First screenshot is when I initially display the panel. I have a border around the image control. The image is initially blank. when I click on a row in the list, the 3 detail view controls get populated. You can see the image control is populated correctly. The last image is when I click on the 'New Photo' button. the image control turns to a very smell square. It doesn't appear to be trying to populate an image. When it looks like is the border around the control seems to be what is visible, without any image, so it shrinks to be very small.

      Style is MobBlue. I'll try to put together a sample and post it.

        Re: Image control tiny size

        OK, found the issue. Buried in the List control under the Detail View tab is a property called, "Default values property for new record in Detail View.". This has two options, "Use the default value for the control to which the list has been bound" or "No default value". By default, it seems to choose the former. Since the default value for the image control was blank, I guess it was trying to populate the control with blank, and hence drawing the border around nothing. Once I selected "No default value", I'm getting the behaviour I want.

          Re: Image control tiny size

          That's what I meant by 1000 settings... usually all over the map... and often very hard to reconcile. In this case, for a List Field Control Type of Image... there is no Default property... so the inline help is misleading. In my system, a rendered new record has the image src set to "images/null_1x1.png.a5image" which is an image sent along.

          The actual description of the issue is found in your last post. You added a border style to your image. That's the tiny square you're seeing, as you've pointed out... a border around an 1x1 null image. It almost looks like an icon... and so can be misleading. If you wanted to continue using a default value then all you'd need to do is turn off the border when you click New Record... and turn it back on when an image is present.

          Another solution would be to create a blank image with the size you've defined for your Detail View images.
