Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Switch on List Control Shows as a button

    I have a switch in the list control being used as a logout/login modifier for a field technician. Everything is working on the database side of things, it all saves just fine on change. Pic is attached showing the issue.

    Why is it only appearing as a single color changing button, instead of a left to right switch style?

    As a side question to anyone with more experience with switches in lists...is there a way to create a label next to, or even within the switch button?

    You'll need to post a sample... use Static Data... because you've changed the css of the List Switch control. That's not its default look.

    There's a bug somewhere using the List Switch control... depending on how you have it set up. Sometimes the right/left button part of the Switch control is rendered outside the control. That may be what's going on there, but a sample is needed to confirm.

      The current build has that bug the patch has the fix, but remember tread your own path with pre-releases.

        I downloaded and installed the latest pre-release and still not working as intended.

        I've filled in the same app with static data. Thanks for any time spent looking at this. If there is no remedy, I'll file a bug report..

          Using the current pre-release it looks ok. However, it's tough to say where your css files are... etc. Try this... it seems to works fine under the official release 4770.

          Get into your List Control and at the bottom turn on the Optional Tab... CSS. Then, in the CSS tab add this...

          Code:
          .MobBlueSwitch {
          	white-space: normal;
          }
          If you want the css in a more global area... you can add it to the UX Local CSS Definitions property.

            That did it. Thanks David. I guess I need to mess with my project styles, or correct whatever I broke..

            Do you have any idea how to put a label next to each switch so users can identify what means logged in or out?

              Re: Switch on List Control Shows as a button

              It's a little tricky because Alpha generates the html for the Switch on the fly - very nice stuff. You can easily put information on the top or bottom of the Switch... but I don't think that's what you want.

              To add info to the right side of the Switch... in the List Layout... for the Tech_status Switch... in the Template property... add this instead of what's there currently.

              Code:
              <div id="parent">
              	<div id="wide">{Tech_status}</div>
              	<div id="narrow">{data:Tech_status}</div>
              </div>
              Back into your List CSS tab... add this...

              Code:
              #parent {
                display: flex;
              }
              #narrow {
                width: 200px;
                margin-top: 7px;
                margin-left: 5px;
              }
              #wide {
                flex: 1;
                /* Grow to rest of container */
              }
              No idea if this will hurt anything else... but it seems to be ok. Thanks to StackOverflow for this one... https://stackoverflow.com/questions/...-to-each-other

                  Awesome! It's tough to put words to the left and right of the switch without screwing up the position, but seems to naturally line up on top of the switch. Thanks for the help today.

                    I forgot to include... List Layout, Tech_status, Column width... set to 200px or 300px. Make the column wider and the status will show. Looks good on top, however. Why is your Switch css different? You didn't include that in your sample did you?

                      The switch css is what you gave me. It's the MobBlue style. What style do have in the pic?

                        So odd. The style is set in the UX... MobBlue. My switch looks like a "normal" switch. Yours is squared off.
