Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Message To User

    I have this in the on click javascript of a submit button, however it is blending in with the background of the UX Component. How can I change the background color or something so it wont blend in and will look distinct to the user so they can easily see and read it?

    var title = 'Notice';
    var message = '<div style="height:0.25in; padding:20pt;">Is this information correct? </div>';
    var msgOptions = [
    {html: 'Yes', value: 'yes'},
    {html: 'No', value: 'no'}
    ];
    A5.msgBox.show(title,message,msgOptions,function(button)
    {
    if(button == 'yes') {
    {dialog.object}.submit()
    }
    if(button == 'no') {
    }
    }
    );

    Re: Message To User

    You can customize pretty much every aspect of the msgBox.

    The doc here... https://www.alphasoftware.com/docume...tion1_Example: Customizing HTML Buttons is a bit repetitive, incomplete, and wrong... but you can get the general idea from it.

    Here is some sample code. The html of the message can carry any css you want...

    Code:
    var title = 'Save Before Closing?';
    var html = '<span style="color:red;background-color:purple;">Do you wish to save your work before closing the window?</span>';
    var type = 'ync';
    var onClose = function (btn) {
        if (btn == 'yes') {
            // yes code
        } else if (btn == 'no') {
            // no code
        } else {
            // cancel - do nothing
        }
    };
    A5.msgBox.titleClassName = 'MyOKButtonClassName';
    A5.msgBox.bodyClassName = 'MyOKButtonClassName';
    A5.msgBox.buttons.no = {html: 'My OK HTML', className: 'MyOKButtonClassName'};
    A5.msgBox.buttons.yes = {html: 'My OK HTML', className: 'MyOKButtonClassName'};
    A5.msgBox.buttons.ok = {html: 'My OK HTML', className: 'MyOKButtonClassName'};
    A5.msgBox.buttons.cancel = {html: 'My Cancel HTML', className: 'MyCancelButtonClassName'};

    A5.msgBox.show(title, html, type, onClose);
    And here are some sample classes.

    Code:
    .MyOKButtonClassName {
    	background-color: red;
    }
    .MyCancelButtonClassName {
    	background-color: blue;
    }
    .windowTitle {
    	background-color: yellow;
    }
    .windowBody {
    	background-color: yellow;
    }
    .windowButtons {
    	background-color: yellow;
    }
    Note the windowTitle, windowBody, windowButtons classes. The msgbox is divided into three areas. Each area is assigned that class - this is all Alpha generated stuff. This css will give you a yellow background for the whole msgBox.

    Be aware, however, that these classes are possibly used elsewhere in Alpha, so changing the css for these classes may affect more than just the msgBox.

      Re: Message To User

      I have this below but it doesnt include the yes and no buttons. Where can I put a div style to include those buttons?

      var title = '<div style="width:225px;height:20px;background-color:black"><font color="white">Notice!<br /></font></div>';
      var message = '<div style="width:225px;height:125px;background-color:black"><font color="white">MAKE SURE THE INFORMATION IS CORRECT! <br /> YOUR PET IS DEPENDING ON IT! <br /> IS IT CORRECT?</font></div>';
      var msgOptions = [
      {html: 'Yes', value: 'yes'},
      {html: 'No', value: 'no'}
      ];
      A5.msgBox.show(title,message,msgOptions,function(button)
      {
      if(button == 'yes') {
      {dialog.object}.submit()
      }
      if(button == 'no') {
      }
      }
      );

        Re: Message To User

        I'm not sure what you mean by "it doesn't include the yes and no buttons". When I run your code I see yes and no button.

        You need to interpret a bit what's being posted. Using your msgOptions... you could add a class...

        Code:
        var msgOptions = [
        	{html: 'Yes', value: 'yes', className: 'MyOKButtonClassName'},
        	{html: 'No', value: 'no', className: 'MyOKButtonClassName'}
        	];
        This will pick up the classnames and apply the styling of those classes.

        Or... msgOptions could also just be...

        Code:
        var msgOptions = 'yn';
        And then you could set up the buttons on the A5.msgBox.buttons object...

        Code:
        A5.msgBox.buttons.no = {html: 'My OK HTML', className: 'MyOKButtonClassName'};
        A5.msgBox.buttons.yes = {html: 'My OK HTML', className: 'MyOKButtonClassName'};
        Or... you can apply the styling directly to the html of msgOptions...

        Code:
        var msgOptions = [
        	{html: '<div style="background-color:purple;">Yes</div>', value: 'yes'},
        	{html: 'No', value: 'no', className: 'MyOKButtonClassName'}
        	];

          Re: Message To User

          The Yes and No button show up but with the code bellow it set the background of the buttons not the background of msgOptions. Is there anyway I can set the background color of the whole msgOptions and leave the individual buttons alone?

          var msgOptions = [
          {html: '<div style="background-color:purple;">Yes</div>', value: 'yes'},
          {html: 'No', value: 'no', className: 'MyOKButtonClassName'}
          ];

          I have tried this but it is throwing an error:
          var msgOptions = [
          <div style="width:225px;height:125px;background-color:black">
          {html: 'YES', value: 'yes'},
          {html: 'NO', value: 'no'},
          </div>
          ];

            Re: Message To User

            Post a screenshot showing the area for which you want to set a background color. If I guess at what you're looking for, that is the windowButtons section which I've talked about. Look at Post #2, and add the .windowButtons class and css to your UX Local CSS definitions property.

            Your code is in error because you're attempting to include an invalid object of an array.

                Then in your UX Local CSS definitions...

                Code:
                .windowTitle {
                	background-color: black;
                }
                .windowBody {
                	background-color: black;
                }
                .windowButtons {
                	background-color: black;
                }
