Variable that stays even after app close on mobile

Is there a way to save a variable and recall it after the app opens and closes.

For example I have a mobile app and I want them to enter a value that they only need to enter once when they launch the app for the first time.

You could use localstorage but it isn't guaranteed that the web client won't clear it out from time to time and more often, I think, if you store a lot of list data in localstorage also. A lot meaning somewhere around 5MB.

// Store the key-value pair
localStorage.setItem('key1', value);

// Retrieve the value
var lsKey1 = localStorage.getItem('key1');

If you really want to reduce the risks of losing the value, you will probably need to write it to a file on the filesystem or perhaps to a local database such as SQLite.

There are a ton of {dialog.Object}.phoneGap methods available. You could do something like this in Client-side afterLogin or onRenderComplete.
