The Alpha Software Forum Participation Guidelines
The Alpha Software Forum is a free forum created for Alpha Software Developer Community to ask for help, exchange ideas, and share solutions. Alpha Software strives to create an environment where all members of the community can feel safe to participate. In order to ensure the Alpha Software Forum is a place where all feel welcome, forum participants are expected to behave as follows:
Be sure all comments and threads you post are respectful. Posts that contain any of the following content will be considered a violation of your agreement as a member of the Alpha Software Forum Community and will be moderated:
If a thread or post is found to contain any of the content outlined above, a moderator may choose to take one of the following actions:
Moderators may also rename posts and threads if they are too generic or do not property reflect the content.
Moderators may move threads if they have been posted in the incorrect forum.
Threads/Posts questioning specific moderator decisions or actions (such as "why was a user banned?") are not allowed and will be removed.
The owners of Alpha Software Corporation (Forum Owner) reserve the right to remove, edit, move, or close any thread for any reason; or ban any forum member without notice, reason, or explanation.
Community members are encouraged to click the "Report Post" icon in the lower left of a given post if they feel the post is in violation of the rules. This will alert the Moderators to take a look.
Alpha Software Corporation may amend the guidelines from time to time and may also vary the procedures it sets out where appropriate in a particular case. Your agreement to comply with the guidelines will be deemed agreement to any changes to it.
Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting
Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.
When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.
The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.
When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.
A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.
If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.
When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.
Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

Re: getMenu method is not a function Error - Menus Action Js - Overlapping Menus on MouseOver - Browser Navigation Menu
For each button... in your onMouseOver event... add an Inline-Javascript action... before the Menu action. Each Inline-Javascript action will be the same...
Code:closeMenus(this);
The closeMenus() function will be...
Code:function closeMenus(currMenuObj){ if(typeof currMenuObj == 'undefined'){ var currMenu = 'HomeLogout'; }else{ var currMenu = currMenuObj.innerHTML.toUpperCase() + "MENU"; } if(typeof {dialog.Object}._menus != 'undefined'){ var menuSel = []; var menuObj = {dialog.Object}._menus; for(var menuNames in menuObj){ menuSel.push(menuNames); } for(i=0;i<menuSel.length;i++){ if(menuSel[i] != currMenu){ {dialog.object}._menus[menuSel[i]].hide(); } } } }
You named your Menus the same as your buttons... but with "MENU" appended. I'm going to take advantage of that. Whatever the incoming button name is... I'm going to uppercase it, and then append 'MENU'. Now we have the MenuName just Moused Over.
Next, grab the {dialog.Object}._menus object and get its menu properties... these are any menus that have been opened... and add them to an array.
Then loop through the array using .hide() on the MenuName... except for the current menu.
The trick to figuring this out is to read the notes in the Menu Action for Show and Hide. This tells us jQuery is being used... and so that's what we need to use to close the Menus.
Then, take one of your Menus... and turn it into code by selecting the Text Mode option in the Action. That gives us a wealth of code to work with.
There is a bit that can be done to slim this down... but for the sake of explanation we're doing a bit more than needed. I don't think an array of MenuNames is really needed... and... this code will .hide() every menu except the current one... whether shown or not. We could test for an open menu.Last edited by Davidk; March 18, 2018, 04:36 PM.

getMenu method is not a function Error - Menus Action Js - Overlapping Menus on MouseOver - Browser Navigation Menu
Goal: To build a versatile browser navigation menu system using the menus action javascripting.
Catch: Overlapping menu windows on mouseover when moving mouse pointer from one menu button to the next.
Have a look at this short video to have an idea about the Menus action javascript: https://www.ajaxvideotutorials.com/V...ui_menus_1.swf
It is also the first search result when you search for "menus" in the video library entitled: "Menus - Displaying pop up menus when the user clicks a button"
I tried to prevent this overlapping using two solution attempts:
1st Solution Attempt:I inspected the element that holds the div displaying the dropdown menu in order to find the id and then use document.getElementById to hide it. It worked sometimes at least. The problem with that is that the div id changes depending on whose menu button I mouseover first. Check out the following screenshots:
Products Menu mouse over it FIRST:
PROODUCTS_MENU_DIV_ID_SELECTED_1ST.png
Products Menu mouse over it LAST:
PROODUCTS_MENU_DIV_ID_SELECTED_LAST.png
So when I put the following inline-js on mouseover of the HOME Menu Button
Code:document.getElementById("A5menu0.MENU").style.display = "none"; document.getElementById("A5menu1.MENU").style.display = "none"; document.getElementById("A5menu2.MENU").style.display = "none"; document.getElementById("A5menu3.MENU").style.display = "none"; document.getElementById("A5menu4.MENU").style.display = "none"; document.getElementById("A5menu5.MENU").style.display = "none";
Code:document.getElementById("A5menu1.MENU").style.display = "none"; document.getElementById("A5menu2.MENU").style.display = "none"; document.getElementById("A5menu3.MENU").style.display = "none"; document.getElementById("A5menu4.MENU").style.display = "none"; document.getElementById("A5menu5.MENU").style.display = "none";
2nd Solution Attempt:I tried to get a pointer to the menu object and execute the hide method to hide it
getMenu method - Menus AJS - UX.png
When I copy the example code to clipboard I get this call method of the window which is not the getMenu() method (possible BUG)
Code://call a method of the window var wObj = {Grid.Object}.getWindow('{Alias}MYWINDOW'); wObj.hide(); //(UX Component only) Shortcut method to close a window {dialog.Object}.closeWindow('MYWINDOW');
Uncaught TypeError - getMenu is not a function on mouseover.png
I have attached a sample testing UX named "Navigation_Menu_test" that has the dropdown menus for testing purposes.
I am using the latest production AA v12 build (4770) and testing in the browser.
Thanks in advance for taking the time looking into this. I do appreciate it ^^
