Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

Sync button not working on phonegap application?

    Hey everyone

I have a phonegap application with a UX, that one it has a list. When a row is selected, it opens a detail view. The user can edit, and then use buttons to save and sync. I'm using the code:

    {dialog.object}.saveListEdits('LIST1',{rows: 'allRows'});
When I edit a row, I can save changes, but upon clicking sync, nothing happens. I've put alerts in the js after that code to test it, and it works fine. But no matter what I try to do, the sync button simply doesn't fire off anything. Does anyone know in any off chance what might be causing this? Or perhaps any way to trouble shoot?

Re: Sync button not working on phonegap application?

If you open a web browser on the device where you installed the phonegap app and then enter the same URL that you configured for "URL For All Ajax Callbacks", do you see what your app server is answering with in the browser?

You could add alerts such as alert('onAjaxCallbackNotAvailable event fired') in the onAjaxCallbackNotAvailable Client-side event.
Add similar code to the other client-side events concerning Ajax callbacks.

Re: Sync button not working on phonegap application?

Make sure your UX Security is set to Always Allowed
Make sure your UX is published to your server
Make sure your PhoneGap Build Builder property "URL for All Ajax Callbacks" is set properly

After you sync, is there any flag set (a coloured triangle) in the upper right corner of the List row?

Hm I checked all those 3, they seem fine. When I make changes, theres a yellow flag in the top right hand corner of the list row, and this stays there after I save as well. I'm looking at the UX now in the browser to try to figure it out, and I seem to be getting GET request errors when I hit the save button? The sync isn't even enabling on the browser

Re: Sync button not working on phonegap application?

It's probably an Orange Triangle icon. There's a distinction between Orange and Light Orange (child update). The colours are somewhat described here... but you must search for both "icon" and "triangle" separately to get all the hits. A Legend would have been nice.

What are the errors you're getting?

Re: Sync button not working on phonegap application?

I've managed to fix the insert_identity error by setting the PK to not update-able, and the GET request errors went after I changed some of the databindings. However, I'm not sure if this hasn't caused more problems...

Right now I'm getting a blank extra entry in my list when the list loads initially, and I'm not sure if this is caused by anything I did above.

Re: Sync button not working on phonegap application?

You'd have to post a sample UX / Table. Sounds like you've got stuff going on in the UX so it's all just guessing at this point.

Re: Sync button not working on phonegap application?

                Do the following to test:

                Create a new blank ux
Use the list wizard to generate a new list and detail view
Create new list buttons using the list detail view button wizard

Now, test to see if it works. I would always start with a working list and make sure your data call is correct. If it works now, you can then copy and paste this back into the other ux and see what happens. The benefit of this is that it removes all other potential issues your other ux could be causing.

Anyway, it's just a check to start with a good working copy.
