Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

Closing a Window disables doubleTap ?

    Hello,

I have encountered unusual behavior I wonder if anyone else has seen, and if so, fixes and/or suggestions.

I have a mobile app with a list view. If a user doubleTaps on a line item, a panel opens up with a subset of the record data. If the user taps a button on the panel, a window opens up with all of the record data. This works per spec. However, upon closing the window, doubleTap on the list view stops working for any and all records. If the user doesn't tap the full view button, doubleTap continues to work nominally.

I have tried to reset the panel with pnObj.refresh() to no effect. Exiting the app and restarting it restores the normal doubleTap functionality.

    I'm using Version 12.4.5.2 B 4770, the most recent until today's release.

Sorry, Android build, Samsung S8 Android 8.0.0

    Thoughts are appreciated !
    Joe

PhoneGap Build app, or a Web app running on a mobile device?

I could try to confirm it, but you'd need to post a sample UX to run. There are a thousand ways to build this stuff in Alpha... so trying to duplicate what you have is impossible.

Create a sample UX using static data, zip it and post it here.

      Hi David,

Thanks for the reply. It's a PhoneGap Build app but I can't send the existing app and unfortunately don't have the time this week to create a sample UX. I transitioned from a window to a standard panel for the time being and will re-explore this issue sometime in the next week or two when I have some cycles free up.

      Regards,
      Joe

I ran into something like this. The window being opened was preventing selection behind it, and upon closing wouldn't allow selection. In our case, we had to open and close the window differently and set focus. Can you tell me how you are opening and closing the window?

The window was being opened programmatically - a button was used to initiate a JavaScript Action to aggregate all of the data and set values in the controls placed in the Window, then I used the {dialog.object}.showContainerWindow(this,'INFOWINDOW'); . When I defined the window, I enabled both the closing "X" in the upper right corner as well as a tap anywhere off the window to close.

            Hi Joe,

Well, it certainly makes sense. I'm curious, instead of using code to open and close it, have you tried using Action Javascript to do it, and see if that makes a difference? If I run into a problem with part of my code sometimes I'll go back to Action Javascript and see if it makes a difference, and if it does then I know my code has an issue. You may want to strip out the code you have to populate the controls and see how it works then.

Re: Closing a Window disables doubleTap ?

Thanks, I will try your suggestion and see what happens. As an aside, I started with an Action JavaScript, selected the View JavaScript and cut/pasted that code exactly into my JavaScript Action which aggregated the relevant data.

But these science projects take time....especially without the underlying knowledge of what Alpha is doing

I've found it's good when running into something like this to go back and reconstruct in a simple way....and then work to build back in functionality. You can spend a lot of time tracking down issues and sometimes it's best to just start fresh.
