I have a list control populated with static data. It seems to ignore settings to use group breaks.

Am I missing something, or should the group breaks work?

Ok, the simple answer is yes. Here are some details...

I have a UX with a list control. The data source for the list is set to static data.

The list is populated with an xbasic function that returns data in a JSON format.

I made a test UX (attached) with a simple function.

There are three columns in the list. The first column "Lane" is duplicated in three rows. When I set the Group Breaks to use the Lane column, it does not display any Group Breaks.

I want the list to display one row/title that contains the Lane, and then the rows directly beneath contain the Carrier and Equipment.

In this example it would be:

Mount Sterling, OH Virginia Beach, VA Flatbed or Step Deck
A & W Trux Inc Flatbeds
ILSA Incorporated Vans
LST Services, Inc Reefers
Lewisville, AR Sherman, TX Flatbed or Step Deck
Great Service, Inc Reefers

In the List Builder on the Data Source tab, put the special {<BreakValue>} placeholder in the Group header template property. In the List Layout tab, remove the Lane field from Columns in List.
And, if you want the Equipment to show up right after Carrier without Equipment being in a separate column, remove the Equipment field also and change the Template property for the Carrier field to:
{Carrier}{Equipment}

In the List Builder on the Data Source tab, put the special {<BreakValue>} placeholder in the Group header template property. In the List Layout tab, remove the Lane field from Columns in List.

Here is the same component with the changes you suggest. Still no Group Break. If you are seeing it display the Group Breaks, please post a screen shot.

Ah ok, I thought I read that you got it working and you were just working on the format part.
Group breaks work with static data but now I see that group breaks don't seem to work well with an already rendered list repopulated with static data.

I believe that since you are building the data yourself, you also have to add the necessary data into the JSON structure so that the template can use it.

So, you need to add something like this in your json:

So, you need to add something like this in your json:

That looks like it will work. I'll just have to re-work my code to produce that result.

And since you are building the json yourself, you don't even need to configure the "Has group breaks" server-side stuff in the Data Source tab.

I think I led you in the bad direction (or at least not the easiest direction).
You can keep your original json format.
I hadn't realized that in the List Builder's List Properties tab that there is a "Has client-side group breaks".
