Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Viewing PDF's on Android Devices?

    Hey everyone,

I'm publishing an application through phoneGap, and have a control that does 'PDF From HTML'. I was hoping that upon pressing it, it would download the pdf, like it does in working preview, but no such luck.
I'm assuming this has something to do with androids file system? I've allowed all the addons for phonegap that involve files, media, and file viewers.

Anyone have any idea how to get around this?
    Thanks!

I believe the Action Javascript "PDF from HTML" is meant for Web apps, not Mobile. On the Web, Alpha utilizes phantomJS to convert the HTML to PDF. As far as I can see, phantomJS is not running or loaded in a PhoneGap Build app.

You don't mention what Build of Alpha you're using... it must be before 5159 because "PDF from HTML" has been broken since 5159.

Also, where are you getting the HTML you want to convert to PDF. I suspect something else is going on here... more information is needed.

You'll probably want to review the Videos UXPG_V12--6 and UXPG_V12--7 for information on using the PGB Plugin "cordova-open" to view PDF files.

      Hi David,

      You're correct, i'm on a build before 5159. I'll take a look at the videos you've mentioned.

Really what I'm trying to do is I have a UX form that the user can fill out. The HTML would be the HTML of the page that is holding the UX.
This worked fine when testing on web, but again, my build is before 5159. Good to know

Do you think using an absolute container to create the pdf would be a better idea, and would this be feasible in a mobile environment?

      Thanks for the help!

Your terminologies suggest a confusion somewhere. You're using PGB... is that right? You mention a "page" that is holding the UX. Do you mean an a5w page?

A UX Component, when using PGB, is rendered inside an index.html file... along with lots of other stuff.

Next... you're HTML are all the controls inside your container. The user fills out this "form" and then you want to convert that HTML to PDF... and then do what with that PDF on a Mobile Device? What's the purpose?
