Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    PDF from HTML

Has anyone used the Action Javascript PDF from HTML in a recent build? It no longer works and seems to have been broken sometime after 5028 (April 19) was released.

    Re: PDF from HTML

I just built a simple test involving one list in a container in a UX and ran it in Live Preview.
    Works fine in 5028.
For 5159, I get a HTTP status of 500 in response to the POST request.

      it is working fine.

        Re: PDF from HTML

For 5159 (installed on the same machine), in the HTTP response headers for the status 500, I see:

        <h1>500 Internal Server Error</h1>
        <b>Script Error</b><br />Error:Script:html_to_pdf() line:20<br/>
Error - extra package '[email protected]' is missing, install it to enable the feature.

I have heard that phantomjs has basically been abandoned since the Google team has come out with Puppeteer (nodejs + Puppeteer seems like the way to go now for this sort of thing)

          Re: PDF from HTML

Selwyn... I wish I could live my life in Working Preview... but that just isn't feasible the way it is for you.

Jeff, could you try this... Run your test in Working Preview. This seems to open/install/whatever phantomjs. Now... run your test in a browser... like the real world... and you'll find it works now.

After running my test in Working Preview... PDF from HTML now works in the browser.

            Re: PDF from HTML

Yeap, that worked after first trying to look at it in Working Preview.

I almost never open anything in Working Preview.

              Re: PDF from HTML

Thanks for confirming. I guess that's user error... not a bug. I just tried the same "Working Preview trick" for the modal popup tab/shift-tab issue... didn't work... rats.

May be a moot point now but FWIW...

I'm running 5159 for one of my apps and the PDF to HTML never broke for me. I've been using this action JS for probably a couple years now. Maybe that makes a difference in this specific instance you experienced.

                  Re: PDF from HTML

That's because you're probably working with an upgraded installation. If you installed 5159, or any subsequent pre-release, as a new install (not upgrading an existing install), then PDF from HTML would fail if you did not first run it via Working Preview.

                    Re: PDF from HTML

no longer true with today's pre-release build. this build automatically falls back to using the slower wkhtmltopdf.exe if phontomjs.exe (an optional install) is not installed.
phantomjs is installed in the IDE by going to the tools, packages... menu. it is installed on the server (when you publish an app) by going to the project properties dialog and selecting Packages.

                      Re: PDF from HTML

                      Thanks for the bug fix.

If anyone's interested... this is where PhantomJS came from... search for PhantomJS in the release notes.
