Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

I wish I had your copy of Alpha. So much stuff works for you that just doesn't work for me.

You probably do. It is the current release build. Not sure what 'stuff' is not working for you. We have no record of a single bug report filed by you over the last 12 months.

As always, if you think there is a bug, file a bug report and our team will fix it, or explain why it is not a bug.

There is no 'special' version of Alpha, the release builds and pre-release builds are available to everyone with a subscription.

That's odd... I have emails to you within the last 12 months about a number of bugs to which you usually responded "fixed". I would test out all the new pre-release stuff and send in bug reports with detailed samples, official release issues with samples... as well as corrections for the doc and corrections for the release notes. In February 2018 I started getting back the odd answer with language that indicated the reports were less than welcome. Also, many of my requests for documentation corrections were being ignored. So I gave up sending in bug reports since it was taking up a lot of my time and they seemed to upset people.

Well, rather than viewing this as a who's, right who's wrong thing, I think both of you should now agree, there is an issue greater than a callback - so as many people respect both of tremendously, you might want to resolve that issue with a phone call and move forward, been down this path and it's not worth the walk, but is worth talking about on a technology not yet redundant, (as I said) the Phone.
As for me, I found the clarification welcome and it should be added to the documation in my view. Thanks to you both. Pete

Selwyn - Thank you for your feedback. I confirmed in my app that everything you stated works as expected when I changed the timeout to 10 seconds for all callbacks. I am still learning on the job and appreciate this information.
With a very poor connection, my app now saves data when the AJAX timeout property is increased prior to calling the saveListEdits method. It takes longer, but both list and image save.
When the timeout is exceeded, the appropriate messages are displayed to the user.

I will explore the sync log option with regards to callbacks that fail due to timeouts and resubmitting requests. All good now. Thank you again for your support.
