Lookup grid (for making edits) not showing correct record

I have a grid that I use to enter and edit team members.
Team Members Table
Team_ID
Player_ID
FirstName
LastName
Phone

Player_ID is set up as a lookup field to the Player's table.

Players Table
Player_ID
FirstName
LastName
Address
City
ST
ZC
Phone

Doing a lookup, searching for a player, and populating the Team's table works correctly
Entering a new record into the Player's table also works correctly.

My problem is making edits. Say I decide I need to edit the phone number for a team member. (which is done in the Player's table)
While in the Team Member grid, I click on the mag glass to bring up the lookup table (Player's Table), but the lookup table opens to the first record in the table, not to the record that had focus in the Team Member's table.
I have to do a search to find the correct record.

I found some help on a previous thread from Richard .... that solved my issue.

Create the lookup grid and include a hyperlink to the left of the grid fields that reads "Select" (or text of your preference).
Behind the on-click event of the hyperlink, add code like this to update the fields on the parent grid or UX.

//Get a pointer to the parent component object that opened this grid.
var po = {grid.Object}.getParentObject();

//Get the values from the grid (you can define as many as you like)
var firstname = {grid.object}.getValue('G','FIRSTNAME',{grid.rowNumber});
var lastname = {grid.object}.getValue('G','LASTNAME',{grid.rowNumber});

//If this Grid does not have a parent then 'po' will be false.
if (po) {
po.setValue('NAMEOFYOURFIELD',firstname);
po.setValue('NAMEOFYOURFIELD',lastname);
}

//Close the grid.
{grid.Object}.closeContainerWindow(this);

Add a button to your grid or UX that opens the lookup grid.
