Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    UX/phonegap app render issue

I have a UX that has 10 panel cards. On the initial load it always shows two controls in an injectable container in panel 9, then flips to the correct panel card which is Number 1 and is located at the top of the controls under the panel layout. When run in the UX it's not so much an issue as it runs very fast but when run on the phone it's very slow and impacts the user experience.

    The UX is pre-rendered.
The two controls are Static Text controls

I attached a screenshot of the two controls that show while the UX is loading.

What dictates which controls show first when a UX is rendered?

Things I've tried that have not worked....

The controls are in an injectable container, I tried moving the container to another panel card
There are other controls in the injectable container but only these two controls show
Using client side show/hide, tried setting it to hide
If I delete the controls UX loads fine. If I add them back in then they show again.

    Re: UX/phonegap app render issue

If I remember my experiences with PanelCards and Injectible Containers, Injectible Containers must go at the bottom of the UX tree... they cannot be placed within a PanelCard.

Also, just below your 2 buttons, at the left edge, there seems to be something... an incomplete render. This usually indicates Javascript errors.

      Re: UX/phonegap app render issue

I believe (and have seen in my tests) that the "basic elements' of anything in injectible containers in phonegap, pre-rendered apps are immediately visible but without any styling or content even if placed at the end.
Then, especially if there are a bunch of panelcards and although everything is pre-rendered, the styling of the whole app starts to get calculated, drawn, recalculated, redrawn... multiple times while you see the unstyled injectible container elements for awhile.

I believe it is because the injectible content, without any styling is just "there" for the browser engine, starting at viewport x, y position 0, 0 and is the "easiest" for the browser to just get out there while the panel card stuff starts out with being positioned at negative coordinates and can't be repositionned until the browser figures out where to place all the conditionally rendered content.

        Re: UX/phonegap app render issue

        Hi David/Jeff

If I place the injectable containers outside the panelcards I get layout errors. If I place them in the last panelcard I have the same issue. I have used injectables many times and in many places without any issues. While the application is run through phonegap it is basically a UX and the issue appears when run as a UX in the browser.

David.. that was a good catch on the rendering issue. I didn't see and probably would not have noticed if it were not for the screen shot taken from the video while loading the UX. I have not found the issue yet that's causing it. When I run debugger I don't get any errors in console. I've been focused on the True False buttons but now I'm going to start deleting other controls to see if I can find the source of the render issue.

        Thanks
        tom

You'll need to post the Alpha version/build you're using... and post a sample UX showing the Injectible Container issue.

I will but I'm making some progress.

I found the rectangle on the left side of the screen. It was a button that was define in Advanced Button Control as a button, but it contained an image. I changed the Advanced Button Control to Image and that solved the rectangle issue. The True False buttons are Static Text with the following definition "<div id ="binary1" style="text-align:center;padding-top:20%; border:none;height:80%;width:100%;">True</div>"

I've stripped out all the style controls, tried changing the div to a span, but it still shows. These are in an injectable container.

Still working on this one. If I can't figure it out I'll create a simple UX and see if the error shows in that and post it.

            thanks
            tom

              Re: UX/phonegap app render issue

OK issue is solved. It was a show hide function running on the injectable container. The function was conflicting with another function causing it error on rendering.

              Thanks
