Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    How to implement stripe Webhooks?

    I am trying to create a subscription based application using stripe and
    I am searching the forum for strip and I came across this https://forum.alphasoftware.com/show...ghlight=STRipe
    in one of the replies it says "Stripe under Alpha was never fully implemented... only the very basics were exposed and have Actions"and rec

    Is there an example on how to use webhooks to update records on tables when a payment is successful and update some dates on a database table for end of billing and automatically send emails to customers as a reminder and disable some functionalities of the application when the payment is not made?

    Thanks!

    Re: How to implement stripe Webhooks?

    A Webhook is simply a pointer to a url. For Alpha this means an a5w page residing on your server. That a5w page contains no html... it only contains XBasic. When Stripe fires the webhook... it is simply a call to the a5w page URL. That page gets run... and since it's XBasic... the XBasic is run... just regular XBasic to update tables.

    Webhooks are implemented differently between companies. You'll have to review the Stripe doc to see how they do it. The data sent along with the Webhook call will probably be somewhere in Context.Request so you'll need to review the Alpha doc for that as well.

    The forum post you site has nothing to do with Webhooks and Webhooks has nothing to do with Alpha's implementation of Stripe.

      Thanks David. Hope you can share an example of how to implement updating table records upon payment, and also sending message to the App url when the billing period ends.

        Re: How to implement stripe Webhooks?

        I know this may not answer your question directly but the idea is the same in many ways. The following is a webhook page I made that spark-post calls when an email is sent.
        As you will see, I get the data from them and update the tables in my database. What David is saying is you'll need to get the data from them (stripe), break it down and use it to update your database. As I said, this is NOT the same company or what is needed but can maybe show you what code structure might go on an a5w page to parse the data and update tables...it would be awesome if some posted the before stuff from stripe...

        Code:
        <%a5
        dim events as c = Request.body
        dim pp as p
        pp = json_parse(events,.t.)

        dim from as c
        dim eventtype as c
        dim msgwho as c
        dim msgfrom as c
        dim dbtype as c
        dim msgsub as c
        dbtype = "Message"
        from = pp[1].msys.message_event.friendly_from
        eventtype = pp[1].msys.message_event.type
        msgwho = pp[1].msys.message_event.rcpt_to
        msgfrom = pp[1].msys.message_event.msg_from
        msgsub = pp[1].msys.message_event.subject

        	dim cn as sql::Connection
        	dim result as l = .f.
        	dim args as sql::arguments
        		result = cn.open("::Name::Connection1")
        			if result then
        		args.Set("pub",events)
        		args.Set("ff",from)
        		args.Set("msgtype",eventtype)
        		args.Set("towho",msgwho)
        		args.Set("msgfrom",msgfrom)
        		args.Set("dbtype",dbtype)
        		args.Set("sub",msgsub)

        			postsql = "INSERT INTO alphanwcopro.spost SET message_event_towho = :towho, msg_subject = :sub, post = :pub, friendly_from = :ff, message_event_type = :msgtype, msgfrom = :msgfrom, webhook = :dbtype"
        cn.execute(postsql,args)
