Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    UX Calling Javascript Function From Server Side Email Action

    For the Server-Side Action scripting for send an email, I am trying to replace the built-in Show Confirmation Message with a custom JavaScript message using the Client-Side After Message Sent event. My goal is to replace the built-in Windows message with a new Transient Message instead.

    From the After Message Sent event, I'm calling a JavaScript function called sentMessage
    The notes below the property indicate that the e object will be exposed in the JavaScript event and has e.HasError and e.ErrorText

    My JavaScript event is coded like this but is not working and I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.

    Code:
    function sentMessage() {

    var error = e.datasubmitted.hasError

    if (error == false){
    	{dialog.object}.transientMessage('center','Email message sent.',
        {
            buttons: [{html: 'Undo', onClick: function(){alert('undo')}}]
        }
    )
    }

    else {
    	{dialog.object}.transientMessage('center','Email message was not sent because of an error.',
        {
            buttons: [{html: 'Undo', onClick: function(){alert('undo')}}]
        }
    )

    }}
    When run this gives an "e is not defined error"

    Error.jpg

    I've checked the e object in the debugger and nowhere does e.hasError show up so I'm wondering how to expose this property.
    Anyone see something I'm doing wrong?

    Re: UX Calling Javascript Function From Server Side Email Action

    Still struggling with this. The debugger shows that the javaScript function gets called .. but the transient message simply doesn't show up in the browser.
    It works in Live Preview but does not work at all in the browser, neither Firefox, Chrome, nor IE.

    I modified the javaScript to emulate Google transient messages:

    Code:
    function sentMessage(e) {

    var error = false;

    var _htmlmsg1 = '<div style="line-height:0px; display:inline-block;">EMAIL SENT</div>';
    var _htmlmsg2 = '<div style="line-height:0px; display:inline-block;">EMAIL NOT SENT BECAUSE OF AN ERROR</div>';

    var _options = {
    	"className": "",
    	"style": "box-shadow: 0px 2px 6px 2px rgba(0,0,0,.25);background: rgba(0,0,0,.8);color: #fff;border: 1px solid rgba(0,0,0,.8);border-radius: 4px;",
    	"close": {
    		"show": true,
    		"icon": "svgIcon=#alpha-icon-x:icon{fill: #fff}",
    		"iconHover": "svgIcon=#alpha-icon-xCircle:icon{fill: #fff}"
    	},
    	"duration": 1500,
    	"animation": {
    		"show": {
    			"type": "auto",
    			"duration": 600
    		},
    		"hide": {
    			"type": "auto",
    			"duration": 600
    		}
    	}
    };

    if (error == false){
    	{dialog.object}.transientMessage('center',_htmlmsg1,_options);
    	}

    else {
    	{dialog.object}.transientMessage('center',_htmlmsg2,_options);
    	}
    return;
    }
    This works in Live Preview and on a simple button OnClick event.
    Alpha was absolutely no help with this. Asking for an example is simply asking too much! I should have known. It's likely a bug.
