Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

Edited list - detail record losing focus

I have a panel card with a list (EDIT_TOURN_GOLFERLIST) and a second panel card (EDIT_ENTER_TGOLFERS_DETAIL) with the list details, that I make edits to.

My save button on the detail panel card is:

    "var lObj = {dialog.object}.getControl('EDIT_TOURN_GOLFERLIST');
    lObj.updateListFromUXControls();

The "JUST EDITED" record looses focus and the first record in the List SQL select statement is shown.
I would like the "JUST EDITED" record to remain in view.

Is there code I can add to the save button to fix this?

    Thanks
    Tony

Re: Edited list - detail record losing focus

There have been some odd List bugs over the last few months. You'd have to post what Alpha version/build you're using.

What is the List property "Allow NULL selection" set to? Just performing a .updateListFromUXControls() most likely won't cause this behaviour... and doesn't in my tests. Are you automatically syncing the List as well?

Do you have any code in the List events onSelect or onClick?

Re: Edited list - detail record losing focus

      David

      I am using 12.4.5.2
      build 4770 - 5018

My list is set to "Perform client to server sync whenever user saves edits to a row in a list"

Allow null selection is not checked

      No list events

My list has a fairly complicated SQL statement. I will start over with a new list and see if I can see what makes this happen

      Thanks

Re: Edited list - detail record losing focus

I started over with my list and it worked as it should until I changed the SQL statement from something simple to a SQL statement with three inner joins. (not even sure that's supposed to be done, but it does filter and order my list correctly)

        SELECT Tournaments.Tourn_ID, Tournaments.Active, V_Teams.Team_ID, V_Teams.Tourn_ID AS Tourn_ID_Teams, V_Teams.NAMES, Players.Player_ID, Players.Team_ID AS Team_ID_Players, golfers.golfer_id AS golfer_id_Golfers, golfers.first_name, golfers.last_name, golfers.address, golfers.city, golfers.state, golfers.zc, golfers.cellphone, golfers.email, golfers.notify, golfers.member, golfers.entered, golfers.notes, Players.Golfer_ID
        FROM Tournaments Tournaments
        INNER JOIN (V_Teams V_Teams
        INNER JOIN (Players Players
        INNER JOIN golfers golfers
        ON Players.Golfer_ID = golfers.golfer_id )
        ON V_Teams.Team_ID = Players.Team_ID )
        ON Tournaments.Tourn_ID = V_Teams.Tourn_ID
        WHERE Tournaments.Active = 'Yes'
        ORDER BY golfers.last_name, golfers.first_name

So ..... we'll deal with the inconvenience of list going to first record after an edit.

        Thanks
        Tony

After more testing on the list with the long SQL statement .... data entry or editing does not work.
              Back to the drawing board!
