Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Videoplayer control properties incorrect

When I add a videoplayer control
the standard datacontrol window opens. When you click through the videoplayer control
appears but the properties are for a datacontrol, and not specific
    To the videoplayer control.

I downloaded the ux example from the video tutorial, it
displays the correct control properties. I can copy and paste
this control to other components they work in live and working preview,
    but not in the browser.

The controls are available from the more menu
at the end of the data control choices.

Using an older version. If the controls are available
in my version I would assume they should work?

    Re: Videoplayer control properties incorrect

This is one of my favourite features of Alpha. There are 4 video related controls available. Plus a whole video component.

The VideoPlayer control that you're seeing in your downloaded example is from Other Controls, VideoPlayer... a non-data bound control.

The VideoPlayer control that you're adding is a data bound control. Not the Video - Data Bound control, but rather the VideoPlayer control... but it is data bound. The Player you've added gets its video from a data bound source, which is why you're seeing Control Properties of onLoaded, onPlay etc... and nothing about video source.

The Other Controls VideoPlayer properties allow you to specify a data source.

Tried just the non data bound videoplayer control on
a UX in a panelcard with a frame so I could make sure the
UX rendered. This works in the previews and in the browser using local host
but when I publish to my live webapp the frame renders but the player does not render. I am using it in the
the ux as an embedded component of a layout component. However when I
use Bob M s example as the same embedded ux the example renders fine. Tried this six ways to Sunday, but the videoplayer control doesn’t seem
to be there? Using https on my server don’t know if maybe the control is being blocked? Any insite on this would be helpful. Tried different browsers, can’t understand why this would work on local host but not from my server.

What Alpha build are you using?
What, specifically, is your video source? And how are you setting the video source?
Why are you putting your video player in a frame. What is a frame? Do you mean iFrame? The video player already renders inside an iFrame.
Why would the UX not render with a frame?
Are you following the same code/logic, as in the example, for setting the video and then displaying the PanelCard hosting the video player?

Can you post a sample parent UX and sample embedded UX that is not working? Make it simple.

            12.4.2 ver 3670 developer

What, specifically, is your video source? And how are you setting the video source?
youtube id, same settings as the example see attached component

Why are you putting your video player in a frame. What is a frame? Do you mean iFrame? The video player already renders inside an iFrame.
Container Frame, just to outline it to make sure the component is rendering

Why would the UX not render with a frame?
I tried it both ways with and without a container frame. The frame tells me that the component is rendering even if the videoplayer control isn't.

Are you following the same code/logic, as in the example, for setting the video and then displaying the PanelCard hosting the video player?
No I was just using one panel card and a non data bound videoplayer control.

Can you post a sample parent UX and sample embedded UX that is not working? Make it simple.

Haven't ever used video in my webapp before first time I've tried to incorporate it.

              Re: Videoplayer control properties incorrect

Although I do have a development version of 3670 installed, I don't have a server with a build that old. In a current build, a parent UX, with an embedded UX containing the video player control does work... everything renders and the video plays.

You must be getting console errors. Have a look in the browser console to see what they might be.

Ok, Thanks! I Think my copy of developer has a problem, or doesn't support the control. That would make sense since the example I downloaded from the video works on my server. I ll checked the console

                  Re: Videoplayer control properties incorrect

I don't see that. 3670 does have the Other Controls, VideoPlayer control... is it support. If there was an issue with it, I've no idea... and wouldn't be surprised. Unfortunately there's no way of knowing if there was an issue... and no way of knowing which subsequent build fixed it if there was. However, it works for me under 3670.

You checked you browser console and there are no errors?

And your server is running 3670?

Dumped my developer and re-installed full version. Did go forward to 3962-4772. Also updated my server to match. Problem left.
Something was corrupted. Thanks again for your help.
