Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    List responsive column

I have a list control with responsive columns placed on a panel card. Works fine in a desktop browser. As window gets narrower, various columns hide. But in Chrome browser on a phone none of the columns hide and the flex columns are basically 0 (because there are some fixed width). I'm not that familiar with the phone environment, but should I expect it to work similar to desktop? This is not PhoneGap.

    Re: List responsive column

So far in my testing, the chrome dev tools mimic the actual device pretty well as far as layout goes. Don't forget you can use multiple layouts as well as the responsive rule sets. Also remember that the order of the rules matter! I recommend starting with the biggest devices and work downwards to the small screen sizes.

      Re: List responsive column

Bill, did you figure this out? I'm seeing the same thing with my web application. On a PC browser (Chrome and Firefox), if I decrease the screen width, the columns disappear as expected, but in Chrome on my phone browser the columns are all present and just squeezed till unreadable.

I'm back to this again. I actually had a bit of trouble even with the desktop browser, but found that it works if I put a 0 in the Responsive column value on columns I want to remain regardless of screen width. But it's still not working in the mobile Chrome browser or as a mobile app. The columns aren't disappearing regardless of screen size.

        Has anyone figured this out?

Did anyone get the List Responsive Column value to work? It is hit and miss for me.
          Thanks,
          Marc

I'm now using Version 12.4.4.4, Build 4335, Addin Build 4887

If you can create a static list of values using the same controls for your list control - in other words a sample of what you've built I would like to take a look at the layout. I have had pretty good luck in responsive layouts and may be able to help and explain how I got it to work. Sometimes its more a matter of containers and creating responsive rules around them, but mostly its using a combination of responsive rules at the list level & the UX itself that gets the best results. I would also go on to say, that once you get down to a phone (small screen-sizes) it's best to start looking at what the necessary info is at that point to display - with the rest of the info split into other panel cards.
