Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

How do i refresh a list with argument in sql?

    Hi
I have a list with a sql definition that looks like:
select * from MyTable where Date=:whatDate
In the arguments section in the list definition i added a whatDate argument which takes it's value from a Date field in the UX. This all defaults to Today's date and it loads the correct data successfully.
When i go to the Date field and change the value, the list becomes empty instead of showing the correct data. In the onChange event of the Date field i entered a "Refresh Data" List control Action .
    What am i doing wrong?

    Thanks
    Jaime

In the Refresh Data list action i found a "Preserve Current Filter/Order" property.
When its not ticked, there is no data at all after refreshing, as stated above.
When ticking the property, it always shows the original date's data, it won't requery based on the argument

There's a lot of information missing here. Build version of Alpha, confirmation of Argument Data Type and Date field Type.
How are you setting your Date field default? What is that value?

What date format are you using?

I tried to get more information about the "preserveCurrentFilterOrder"... but, of course, there is no doc on it.
The in-line help states that is it server-side only, and works on a filter and order that the user may have applied? Have you applied any server-side filter?

Using build 6263, and setting my Date field to either =Date() or ="04/04/2019 I get a correct initial display of data. Changing the Date field and then refreshing the List with a simple .refreshListData() method my List is refreshed and now shows data for the new Date selected.

Same here, just need a list refresh in the onChange of the date field.
        e.g.
        {dialog.object}.refreshListData('LISTNAME');
        Cheers

Re: How do i refresh a list with argument in sql?

          Hi
I'm using build 6232. Backend is MariaDB. The field is of type Date in the DB and of type Time in the arguments.
The Date field has =date() as default value. SQL query as specified above.
When entering the UX the list displays the correct data ( today's rows ) but when changing dates and running a refreshlistdata the list comes empty...
Will try to play with the argument type and set it to Date ( if i understood correctly Date type is to be used for alpha dbf dates and not sql )...

Forgot to mention the list has a child list too, but i don't think this has anything to do with the parent refresh...

Re: How do i refresh a list with argument in sql?

Ok found the issue, but it's really puzzling!
The query has in fact something like this in the filter .....where DriverID=:whatDriverID and Date=:whatDate
DriverID is also fed through another field, like Date. The DriverID field should be hidden.
What's puzzling is when the DriverID field is hidden, the refreshlistdata brings empty data, but when the DriverID field is displayed, list refreshes correctly!
I'll try a client side show/hide to hide the DriverID, that may help...

Edit: client side show hide did the trick

Re: How do i refresh a list with argument in sql?

That's the information that should have been in the first post. You can't just post "I've done this one thing and nothing works". You must post Alpha build (because Alpha can break from release to release), and include "I've done this, and this, and this, and this". Otherwise we're working with little bits of information that will always work when duplicated.

You also need to understand the difference between the "Hide" property and the Client Side Show/Hide expression. When the "Hide" property is used, the control is not rendered... and therefore cannot be used as you're using it. The Client Side Show/Hide expression sets the "display" attribute of a control to "none", but the control is still there.

I hear you David, it's just the first time i got bitten by the "Hide" property. I will go back to using client/side show hide from now on :-)
