Moving Data from one list to another

I'm doing a simple 'move data from one list to another' and getting the records to the second list is no problem, but how would you go about actually saving a list that is SQL databound? It hasn't triggered any detail view modifications, so how do we save it?

There's the whole video series on this, but nothing shows how to save the data in the target list. Any help in the right direction would be much appreciated.

You need to use the right method to put the data into the list so it marks it as dirty, if you just manipulate the lists data property then the rows are not marked as dirty.

Either <listObject>.AddTableRow() -- This will add a new row to the list
Or <listObject>.UpdateTableRow() --this updates an existing record.

So you need to
Get the data from the current list
Filter it down to any records you want to move across
Add it to the new list
Sync back to the server.

If you want to save the data to the server anyway, why not just take the data from list1, save it directly into the table that list2 is based upon, then refresh list2 to see the data you just moved?

Seems like that would be more straightforward.

Can anyone post an example of how to do that? I'm in the same boat. I've got one list that allows multiple selections that I can pull the data from into an area and also grab additional data from fields on the UX and plug them into the array and then pop all that back into a different list that's databound to a different table...but I can't save or syncronize those rows in the second table. If I can save the array directly into my sql table and then refresh the lists as lgrupido suggests that would be ideal. I just don't know how to code that. Any help would be appreciated...even if it's a pointer to a relevant video or doc. Thanks.

In the onclick event of list1, you could call the following ajaxcallback.

If you set the first list up with a detail view, then when you click on a row all of the data will go into fields you can capture with e.datasubmitted inside the xbasic function.

Since you are not using the detail view directly, you can just hide all of the fields somewhere on the ux.
