Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Anyone else having issues making an embedded object fill a panel container?

    I've got a ux component with a single embedded object inside of a panel card. The embedded object's "Fill Panel Card Container" is ticked but it does not fill the container. It still opens in a very small window. Is there a trick to this I am missing. It's driving me a bit crazy. Appreciate any feedback.

    Hi Josh,
    What is the embedded object? Is it a map, chart, an iFrame...

      I've tried an iframe but currently the embedded object is an external web page.

        Hi Josh,

        Ok had a play, try this
        Get rid of the embedded object
        change the panel type from 'Default' to 'IFRAME'
        Like this
        PanelCardIframetype.PNG

        See if this works for you it did in my little sample

        Doesn't answer the fact that the 'Fill Container" property does not work for an embedded object :(

            I have an embedded object which is an a5w page. I don't want to use an external page, which is all the Iframe seems to allow. I have check marked to Fill Container, but it does not.. is small whether on Iphone or Ipad view, and requires scrolling when it would not need if the a5w page would fill the panel. Is this something that Alpha needs to fix?

              Hi Carol,

              Yes they do need to fix it, have you sent a bug report?

              in the meantime... see if you can modify this bit I got from Selywn last week when I was trying to re-size the map example that Frank did for you in this thread
              http://msgboard.alphasoftware.com/al...map-in-a-panel

              ...before I found the 'Fill Container' property which DOES work for maps!

              Anyhow here is what I got to work in that example

              var ele = $('{dialog.ComponentName}.V.R1.MAP1.CONTROL');
              ele.style.width = {dialog.object}.panelWidth('PANELCARD_2');
              ele.style.height = {dialog.object}.panelHeight('PANELCARD_2');
              var mObj = {dialog.object}.getControl('map1');
              mObj.refresh()

              or the original code Selwyn sent me.

              var ele = $('{dialog.ComponentName}.V.R1.MAP1.CONTROL');
              ele.style.width = {dialog.object}.getValue('width') + 'px';
              ele.style.height = {dialog.object}.getValue('height') + 'px';
              var mObj = {dialog.object}.getControl('map1');
              mObj.refresh()

              Hopefully this might get you in the right direction.

                Thanks Bruce. I did send a bug report this morning. I will try the code you sent and see what happens.

                  Re: Anyone else having issues making an embedded object fill a panel container?

                  Bruce, I'm stumped with the code from Selwyn. I don't know what to use for the dialog component name. [Embedded Object: ContactPhoneNumbers(A5W page)] is what shows in the list of objects for the dialog component. There is not a variable name for it in the Properties for the object.

                    Carol,

                    If you set the panel to iFrame as Bruce suggests you can point to an a5w page. I have Jim Coltz calendar on such a page called webcal1.a5w and put that in the Iframe URL. Re-sizes nicely to phone, tablet and desktop (bit cramped in week view on phone though)
