Retain Newly Entered Data

After entering a new record, press the Submit button, the record is saved and the grid is cleared ready to enter a another record. There are also two additional grids which are linked to the new record grid, One to add the work site address and another to add tasks to be done at the work site. As it is now, a search has to be done to recall the newly entered record in order to add the related data into the other two grids.

How can the submitted data be retained on the grid to avoid the search and reload?

hello

you can do this with grid or dialog.
with the grid:
create the parent grid, child grid link them together. then on the parent grid have save button, enter the child grid data button. the enter the child grid button will be hidden till the the record is saved. then it will be shown ready to be clicked.
with dialog, the better way:
create the dialog with all the controls. parent in the top child records in the repeating section then when you save both the parent and the child records are saved.

Close, but not quite. Mine is set up as yours is. However, when a new customer is saved, all the data is wiped out, the screen is cleared so it's ready to add another customer. That is the default action for the submit button. I need to change that action to just submit the record and NOT clear out the newly created customer.

it is quite possible that your grid is designed on enter data template.
on the other hand if you design the grid as single form enter edit type, i think the selection is down below, fourth or fifth one and save that one.
then create another grid for the child records and link them together then you will get what you want.

when i go to the office i can point out where they reside, if you haven't figured that out already.

the fourth one: single form view, edit, insert, delete (sql) or (dbf) whatever selection you checked.

Ahhh, it is a enter data template so no doubt that is the problem. I do a new one and ......
