Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

        Re: Problems with Latest patch

I am talking about the latest PRE release patch of sunday. Sometimes there's still debugging code active in those prereleases and that writes debug info to the c:\bugs folder. So with yesterday's build you could not launch a UX unless you had this c:\bugs folder. If you're not on a prerelease then something else is going on.

Probably something else that is going on; you will need to provide more info if you want someone to respond. I have no real experience with the cal.

              Re: Problems with Latest patch

I am hoping it is something else, I just cant figure it out. I have windows 7 on my laptop and will try it on here to see if it related to windows 8 but I let the folks at web2cal login and look at everything and they sent me an email telling me it was an alpha issue and they had no idea why it was not working...what sort of additional information should I provide? I am using the latest patches and downloads of each product on a windows 8 desktop PC. All works fine in live preview. I have tried it with a grid as well as a UX component. I have created two pages one with just the calendar and another aw5 page with the component and the event componant as well I can always see the edit event UX and I have tried it with additional fields as well as without them. When I added the additional fields all of that worked as well and I was able to create and edit event info meaning it showed up in the database. I could not and still cannot see the calendar itself when I go to view it online. server is updated as well, so I am at a loss and thanks for any consideration. I will contact Alpha next week and of course I will let ya'll know what solution I find when I do....

                Re: Problems with Latest patch

I've had these kind of issues before. If it shows in live preview there is something not making it to the server. I don't use web2cal, but I would check the ADO connection string in the web publishing profile.

                  Re: Problems with Latest patch

What I have done to fix this problem is download the full build and not the patch. Once I have done this all was well.
