Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

AutoFetchMore in UX list ok in Work Preview but NOT on mobile?

    Hi everyone
havent used alpha for about 3 years and have just upgraded, so excuse me if Im missing something

all im trying to do is create a scrolling list in a container in a Mobile UX that shows 3 records scrolling horizontally,
and when it gets to the end it fetchs more automatically. I looked at the videos and it all looks good.
created my own example and it works in the working preview. BUT...

when I do a remote test via QR code and my Iphone it does not AutoFetchMore.

Are there any known bugs here?

    Thanks in advance
    newby to v12

        This is on local host.
the list works as meant under chrome on the desktop.
also tied a div instead of a button and also no luck.
        must be a bug.

        can anyone else recreate this?
it is a lonely list on a ux which is part of nothing else
        cheers for any help

          James,

I've tried a scrolling horizontal list and find that it's good for AutoFetchMore.

Under the List Data Source Properties... do you have your Page Size set to 3? That may be the problem. I don't think that's the way it's meant to be used. A "page" of data is meant to be like a cache of data. You don't want to go after all the records... but rather pages of records so that some records are ready to display. Try setting the Page Size to 10 or 100. The 3 records you want to "view" at a time would be governed by the item width.

If I were to guess at what's happening... your 3 records are displayed... but nothing is triggering a fetch. Usually a fetch is triggered by you scrolling past the end of your list. With your list being only 3 records long there's no scrolling to trigger a fetch. Does that make any sense?

            Thanks for trying it out.
I will switch to larger page size.
            What build are you using?
Because it still doesnt explain why the button "fetch more" version didnt work?

And when I tried the autoFetch on my simplified vertical test it did kick of a javascript spinning graphic that indicated something had been triggered but nothing was returning.
Im using mySql as the back end. Im going to try a different table and possibly database today as an experiment. Im wondering if something in the data isnt playing nicely

Again thanks for spending the time on proving it does work in your build.

            Cheers James

If you set your page size to 3, with AutoFetch, run it on your iPhone, and then scroll from left to right (yes... backwards), then you'll probably find the AutoFetch to grab more records. It's the action of the scroll that triggers the fetch as you get near the end of your page. It's most likely the page size that's getting in the way.

I changed from AutoFetch to a FetchMore button and that does work as well, in my test. I show 3 records, but the FetchMore button is off the screen to the right. I scroll to see the FetchMore button, click it, and get more records.

              I'm using 1620-4172.
