Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    After import in CSV file it does not open a grid synchronously

    I have a web page with a grid feature where people can import records.
    After you click on the import, it does import the information correctly, but after the import is done, I have set the next Onclick event to Open a grid component.
    I need it to show a grid with the imported information to the customer.

    The switch at the bottom of the edit OnClick Event I have switched on <Run actions synchronously>, but after import is done the next step, or open the grid, is not happening.

    Can someone point me to what I am doing wrong?

    Thanks
    Roelof

    Roelof,

    What does "... is not happening" mean? For example, is the grid not opening at all? Is it opening but failing to display the desired records?

          Roelof,

          Create an action "open grid" in your grid (properties):

          a1.png

          Copy the code to run the action to the clipboard

          a2.png

          Paste that code in the after upload" client side event of the upload action:

              Nope after the import has been done the box shows that it has been done, I click on OK, and no other grid opens up.

                Re: After import in CSV file it does not open a grid synchronously

                In the "after upload client side event" do not specify the code to run the action (e.g. {grid.object}.runAction('open newly imported records'); ) but the name of a javascript function you define, for example shownewrec()

                The function definition of shownewrec could then be something like this:

                function shownewrec(){
                {grid.object}.runAction('open newly imported records');
                }

                I thought you could specify {grid.object}.runAction('open newly imported records'); immediately in the "after upload client side event" but I was wrong.
                This works; tested it. Attached is a sample project.

                You will need code/logic to filter the popup grid to only show the newly uploaded records but that is a different issue than the one you were experiencing

                  I have in that item OpenGrid(), but after the upload it says import successful, I close that window but nothing else shows up. see picture. So I don't know what I am doing wrong.

                    did you open my sample project ? Compar with your project. Try a different name for the function, could be a reserved word although I doubt that

                      Re: After import in CSV file it does not open a grid synchronously

                      This is what I have after the records have been imported it states that 13 records were imported.
                      I click on the X to close the import window, but nothing pops up, I have followed your example and entered this in the After Upload box.
                      shownewrec()

                      The in the Javascript functions box I have put this :

                      function shownewrec(){
                      {grid.object}.runAction('Openanewgrid');

                      }

                      and have build that with the Action Javascript button.

                      So I don't know why this is not working.
                      Really appreciate any input on this.

                        Roelof, do not add the parenthesis to the function name, just the function name OpenGrid in the "After Upload" event.
