Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Disable go-dirty for textbox

    Hi all.
I created a UX dialog with list control and and some controls to edit the values in the list, submit button etc.
Then I added text control and button for searching the list control.
The problem is that every time I type something in the searchbox (text control) the dialog goes dirty.
I can't find the way to disable go-dirty for the text control.
Anyone here who has the solution?
    Best reagards.

    Re: Disable go-dirty for textbox

    Hi,

I presume your controls to edit the data are data bound, and you have set the search box to unbound and updatable to no on the data binding tab. Then simply delete and re-add the submit/cancel buttons and you will get an option dialog, choose the 2nd option for 'when a control that is bound to a table is dirty' this changes the buttons enable property to dialog.isDataDirty = true instead of dialog.isDirty = true

    Hope this helps

      Re: Disable go-dirty for textbox

Hi Lance and thank you for the reply.
I have no databinding and I have not added any submit button.
I have updatebla = false on the search control.
I tried to add submit but I did't get this option dialog you mention.

I'm trying to get similar behavior as the editable grid.
I load the data from SQL to list control.
Use the onselect for the list control and populate the data from list control to "edit controls"
When I change the edit controls, dialog should go dirty.
I will have (no added yet) Save, cancel, close buttons.
Save will make a ajax callback to update the record in database and set dialog not dirty.
Cancel will just reset controls and set dialog not dirty.

      Still looking for solution :)

      Best regards.

        Snorri,

I am confused, in your first post you said you have a submit button?

There are two action javascripts available to populate data in a UX component. For controls bound to a table or controls unbound to a table. If you are using one of these, which one?

Even better, can you post your component on here?

          Re: Disable go-dirty for textbox

Hi Lance and thank you for your patience :)
To simple things out we can do this another way.

Create new blank UX dialog component.
          Add Textbox to the dialog
Add button to the dialog and set the property "Enabled expressions" : dialog.isDirty = true
          Go in Working preview.
The button is disabled, dialog not dirty.
          Type something in the textbox.
The dialog gets dirty and the button gets enabled.

My question is, is it possible to set the textbox so it will not set the dialog dirty flag?
          Best regards.

No, not that I am aware of. Simply because you are making the dialog dirty once you type in the textbox.

You can use dialog.isDataDirty = true, and because the textbox is not bound to a table, the button would not be enabled when you type in the box.

I think I am beginning to see what you want to achieve.

I suggest that use one/all of your "edit controls" (maybe one containing the primary key, which could be hidden) to set an arbitrary javascript value by using its onchange event. then using a javascript function on the buttons enable expression to return true if the variable is a certain value.
