Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    PHONEGAP , Cordova Browser and Cordova Send SMS Message

    quote these ....

    Did you download CordovaBrowser? According to Bob Moore, you can use any of these native shells to test your Alpha Anywhere components and access the Cordova API. The purpose is so you can test the native functionalities you would expect in your PhoneGap app.

    I created a simple UX component with a button and coded the Alpha's CORDOVA SEND SMS Message function

    window.plugins.smsComposer.showSMSComposerWithCB(function(result){
    if (result == 0){navigator.notification.alert('Cancelled');
    } else if (result == 1) {
    navigator.notification.alert('SMS Message Sent.');
    } else if (result == 2) {
    navigator.notification.alert('SMS Message Send Failed.');
    } else if (result == 3) {
    navigator.notification.alert('SMS Message Not Sent.');
    };
    },'778929xxxx','"Test"');

    (i hided the actual phone number)

    this UX is being opened by a Cordova Browser installed on my Iphone4S
    the simulation working great, looking like a real native app etc

    But absolutely not trigger any SMS message send from my iphone

    what am I doing wrong here ?

    appreciate a feedback, thanks
    ken

      Hi Ken,

      I have not had a chance to try CordovaBrowser yet. I tried calling "navigator.notification.alert()" in a UX component using Garden Web a few days ago and got an error. I have been focused for the last few days on building a native app for iOS, Android and Windows Phone 8. I will be going back to Cordova testing shortly and let you know what I find.

        yes i did the notification and got an error
        truly do not know how to properly use such notification
        but the SMS seems straight forward.

        anyone can create a single UX with one button
        and apply the action script

        launched it ... and use the cordova to simulate

        well, SMS did not sent ....

        I would have wish Mr. Moore make a comment here
        or tell us why not working.

        perhaps it has to be 100% done with phonegap ?

          What version of Cordova/PhoneGap Build are you using? EDIT: Nevermind... I see you're using a cordova browser.

          Using GardenWeb, Notification Alert and Vibrate work. But SMS and Notification Beep do not. I would guess that there were changes to PhoneGap Libraries.

          Actually... Beep probably does work... I remember that under iOS beep needs a beep.wav file place in the right spot.

              Re: PHONEGAP , Cordova Browser and Cordova Send SMS Message

              Ken - I tested the Cordova notification and it worked with Garden Web. I could not get the Cordova "Send SMS message" to work. I could not get anything to work with CordovaBrowser. The primary purpose of these browsers is to allow your web app to use the Cordova API. I don't know why AlphaWeb is not available on the App Store yet or why Garden Web has not been updated with a newer version of Cordova.

                or do a video to shop such nice SMS feature ... listed in action
                but just not sure if the problem is version related

                thanks
