Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Re: Wait Image

I did it in Firefox and the background when I added the transparent worked perfectly. It disapeared. Now the issue is getting this into the Alpha CSS. I made a wait message that lasts for 1 hour so it gives me allot of time to check it. Here is what I got of the firefox debug:

    div id="AUIPageWaitDialog" class="_a5WaitMessageCSS" style="position: absolute; top: 82px; left: 637px;"><style> ._a5WaitMessageCSS {background: rgba(0,0,0,.2); border-radius: 5px; color: white; padding: 30px; text-shadow: none; } ._a5LockScreenCSS { background: rgba(0,0,0,0); } </style> <style>

Do you have an idea of where in Alpha I would change the background to TRANSPARENT?

      Re: Wait Image

Sorry if it wasn't clear... or misunderstood... but post # 13 tells you excactly what to do (I hope) :)

In your UX... Properties... theres a property named CSS Local Definitions. The CSS I posted goes in there.

Normally, when you add CSS in here it gets added to the CSS pool. However, because you're putting in a subclass that already exists (Alpha's CSS) you're effectively replacing what Alpha is doing. However (again)... in this case Alpha is popping in their CSS kind of "on demand" (I think). So... without the !important rule, Alpha will overwrite your Transparent setting.

With the !important rule in place... Alpha gets trumped... and your CSS Transparent rules. (get it?... did you see what I did there?) The rule... rules... now that's funny.

        Re: Wait Image

I built a wait image with a 1 hour timer and then used Fiefox bug to find the following properties. After I change the background where do you think I can add it?

        <div id="AUIPageWaitDialog" class="_a5WaitMessageCSS" style="position: absolute; top: 82px; left: 637px;"><style> ._a5WaitMessageCSS {background: rgba(0,0,0,.2); border-radius: 5px; color: white; padding: 30px; text-shadow: none; } ._a5LockScreenCSS { background: rgba(0,0,0,0); } </style> <style>

          Re: Wait Image

I think I misunderstood what you wanted to do. I thought, from the UX stuff you posted, that you wanted to change the icon and background of the wait message that pops up when an ajax callback is made.

You've got this div you want to put somewhere. You're popping up a wait message... is that right? I'm confused.

            Re: Wait Image

You are correct, the wait image is popping up with the dark square background in my application I'm trying to clear that square background leaving only the wait image. Now that I see what is causing the square background where do you think I can find it in alpha css to make the change to transparent?

              Re: Wait Image

Just have to confirm. Are you displaying the wait message? Or is Alpha displaying it?

You can't find it in Alpha to change it... it's not really there. I think Alpha loads it when it need it.

But... you can add your own CSS... the way I've described... to override Alpha... when the Alpha code eventually gets loaded.

You add your own CSS and use !important to force your CSS over Alpha's.

              Who's on first?

                Re: Wait Image

I think I understand. I'll use my own wait image and add it's properties to my css. You think that will do it?

                  Hey Bill,

From your original post... is it the Alpha message you want to remove the background from? Or is it your message?

David victory is ours. That video Rocks! It showed me where to add your corrected properties. After you gave me the corrected properties I used it in Firefox and it worked but I still didn't know where to add it in Alpha to over ride their settings. Well I added as you showed me in the video to the Local CSS and the square background that has been messing with me for 2 month is GONE yes!!!

Thank You, Thank You, Thank You....! When I am done with my application besides the programmers that are working and training me I need to give you credits for this part and believe me you deserve them. Great Job!

                        Rock On!

You are right about this little things. Davids answer to this issue made me stand up and cheer. When he figured out what the properties in the CSS were I was crazy knowing that soon we'd have the answer. I stopped in my car today and logged into my application to build the wait message just to see those properties but even with that I couldn't figure out where it all goes till David sent the video. Great Job Mr Holmes!!

                            Rock On!

I figure this is what makes Alpha so much fun to work with. Not only did Alpha provide the CSS... but provides a place to put it in order to override. I hope doing something like this doesn't break any rules. Alpha continues to impress with it's breadth of customization.
