Desktop Operations in the web version

Hi

I am converting a desktop application to run as a web version using DBF file structure.

I have several append, post and update operations that are then bundled together using the code editor, that I created for the desktop. I want to use or to recreate these in the web version. I have studied and have have come up with no answers.

An example of the type of operation that I need is to append records from three tables into new records in a fourth table. Another is to update the value of one field in a series of records in a table.

Does anyone have a suggestion?

Not sure if you are using the code editor with action scripting or Xbasic.

Personally, in the past I have used the operations genie to create the operation, and then used the XB button to convert to Xbasic. Here are a couple of guidelines I use to convert the default operation Xbasic to be suitable for the web; hopefully this can help get you started:

-Place the xbasic code in an Xbasic function or server-side event.
-Remove any instance of msgbox or ui_msg_box from your desktop code. Instead, capture any error messages to a character variable and return as a javascript alert.
-Any reference to a dbf table should have [pathalias.adb_path]\ in the string
-Remove any code that refers to Browse or Form

Hi

I have always avoided learning how to code in A5 but this should give me a starting point. I will study this and see if I can understand and use it. Thanks for the help.
