Calling <%A5 within Javascript and gettiing the js values

I am trying to implement a third party jquery based calendar, it fires events when items are moved around on the calender.

The events are (obviously) javascript functions, I am trying to embed Xbasic withing the javascript and update the underlying database using the event data of the javascript function.

ie.

eventDrop: function(event,dayDelta,minuteDelta,allDay,revertFunc) {
if (!confirm("Are you sure about this change?")) {
revertFunc();
} else {
//Change the underlying event and scheduled item.
<%A5
DIM cn as SQL::Connection
'
'FROM IN HERE I NEED TO GET THE event OBJECT AND ITS DATA

.....



Is this possible, or is there a different / better way?

I think what you need to do is to call an Ajax Callback from your Javascript event. The callback can include "additional data" which you can supply directly or can be supplied by a Javascript Function. In your case I would create the Ajax Callback and then examine the Javascript that it creates... copy that Javascript... and use it in your JS Calendar Event. That way you can take advantage of the additional data parameters that get passed into the callback.

When the callback is fired, it has your client side data to work with and then you can run whatever XBasic code you need.

Does any of this make sense to you... or would an example help?

An example of how to do an ajax Callback without the '{dialog.object}' prefix would be great. I am doing this strictly within an a5w page and not withing a web component.

Also, doing it this way. How do I go about uploading the XBasic function to the server (or can I embed it in <%A5 %> on the same page?

Just kidding.

I think this is exactly what you need. Real original ajax callback stuff.

Have a look at the Alpha documentation topic titled...

"How to perform an Ajax Callback in Alpha Five". There's an example Calling page and Called page.

You set up one a5w page with functions etc... and this page calls the an a5w Callback page which contains your XBasic... and values get passed in.
