Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

Images in Tabbed UI not displaying

I can't get the images to display in a Tabbed UI component.

I have most of the HTML pages setup as buttons and as static HTML pages.
The text in the HTML pages renders correctly, but not the images.

If is change the image URL to my remote server, the image displays correctly. I have security turned off.

The main database file is h:\Data\A5V12\Simplicity.adb

I have tested with the images in the following folders-:

H:\Data\a5v12\Simplicity.WebProjects\Simplicity Website.WebProject (location of all html files)
    H:\Data\a5v12\Simplicity.WebProjects\Simplicity Website.WebProject\Images
    H:\Data\a5v12\Simplicity.WebProjects\Images

    None work.

I have altered the HTML (benefits.html) to link to my server "http://www.simplicitycloudaccounting.com/images/simplicity_headbanner.jpg" - this works perfectly in Alpha-5.

If I load the benefits.html into Chrome, again this renders correctly.

I am really struggling with this problem.

ok it seems that the images are in your development machine.
1> are you publishing all files to your server.
2> the images will be in your root folder
so approaching them would be simply the image source.
          did you try that?

Yes. This is all on my development machine.
I am publishing all the files before testing.
I am not sure what you mean by approaching the image source.

take a look at this screencast:

              http://screencast.com/t/PR2CvAle

create the page, click on the insert image tool, then select the add to project button and select the image to be added from your local directory, call it a name
then select the image, adjust the size. save and publish the image as well as the page.
              then take a look.

                Hi Gandhi,

After viewing your screencast and following the steps I am still unable to render the image.

I note that I am able to render the image of my home page. In fact it is the only page that does render the image correctly.

                Thanks

Re: Images in Tabbed UI not displaying

                  Selwyn,

You have to describe your setup.

                  1. don't the images show in Working or Live Preview?
                  2. Have you published your project to your localhost & tested ?
                  3. Have you published your project to a remote WAS & tested ?
                  etc...

All in all there is & should not be a problem to display images. On your development machine in your webproject you can add images directly or (recommended) create a folder named for example "images" ans add all your images there. (use the right click menu to ADD a file)

In any html or a5w page reference the images with a relative path e.g. <img src="images/testimage.jpg">

If you do a Live preview of an A5W or HTML page however the image(s) or the "images" folder will NOT be published to the LivePreview folder in your webroot; you have to manually copy it there.

If you publish your project then the image(s) or the "images" folder will be copied however because you publish your whole project.

In the event you have for example a grid component containing an image then the image(s) or the "images" folder will be published.

It's all about learning Alpha. Maybe you can create a video with Jing to show what exactly you are doing, otherwise helping you will be difficult.
