Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Cannot get mobile application working!!!

    Hi everyone,

Thank you to all who have helped me so far!

I am working on a project, and cannot get a mobile version working. I have created a test project to show what I mean.

When I view the application on my phone, the dropdown works, but I have a LIST. The list appears but has no markup what-so-ever. It appears static and cannot be clicked. When I test this in Working Preview, it works fine on my PC.

Here is a shot of my phone screen:

Attached is the project ZIPPED. I am testing on an ANDROID but with my actual app, I have the same results on an Android & iPhone.

(Just tested this with CHROME on my Android and the OnClick fires, but with the Android built-in browser, just displays and NO events occur).

    THANK YOU!

Re: Cannot get mobile application working!!!

I had a problem with android not firing with the onClick in the list and I had to install an android OS update on the phones. I can't recall which versions had trouble but it was between version 4 and 4.3. Android 4.3 works fine. I had multiple users have issues with this and they were all slacking on their OS updates.

Thanks Jinx, I am also realizing that it is not showing any markup either, like CSS isn't going either...... I've had this with several projects now.

I think the main problem is that you're specifying a Component Style of AndroidDark and not supplying it.

There's a property in the Applauncher that requests additional styles. You only have iOS in that list. I added AndroidDark and it's ok. This works under iOS, Web, and Android as far as I can tell.

I added a few other launchers to test... but the attached file is your project with your component, appstart, and index page working.

              David,

THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH!!!! I finally understand what was happening.

My only question is, on the android, I am not getting the onClick event fired.... any idea?

              Thanks,
              Chris

It's firing here. On the List... right? A "you clicked" message?

Maybe I'm not running it the same way... what's the standard browser? Describe, in detail, how you're running the app.

Re: Cannot get mobile application working!!!

I'm just on the main Android screen. There is an Earth icon with Internet underneath. I'm simply clicking that and opening the app.

There is no official browser name, that I can find, as there is no ABOUT option... Chrome is a separate icon.

Re: Cannot get mobile application working!!!

Ok... I understand now. I'm running a Nexus 7 2013. Nexus 7 (I believe) is the first Android device to run Chrome as the default browser. The Android Browser doesn't exist on the Nexus 7. It looks like Android devices will not be using the AOSP. Chrome Mobile will be taking over. From what I've been reading people love or not the stock browser. Many replace it with Chrome or FF or one of the many other browsers. I know none of this helps.

At this point, I will not worry about the stock browser... Thank you David for helping! I now know how to get it looking right lol

I think that's a good thought, Chris. I wanted to suggest that but sometimes you're stuck with what you've got. I read so many threads about IE 8 problems. It's so engrained and so old but people can't move off it. Even Apple gave up on Safari for the PC... it probably wasn't worth the hassle to them.
