Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

In grid, select newly added row through UX upon entering

Been searching for hours but didn't find exactly what i need.
I have a read-only grid with an Action button running "Add/Edit records...". The action button is in "add new record" mode. The action button calls a UX to enter the new record, then in the onHide runs a {grid.object}.Refresh() so the newly created record goes to it's right place. The problem is how do i set focus to that newly created record?

Just a quick thought. Get the key of the added record then loop through the rows.

Ive never done it myself but I'm sure it can be accomplished. I think I would do a callback in the onhide to get the key. Then return with another js fuction to 'sort' the grid.

I still need this, so bumping it...

Recapitulation: a grid runs a UX to add new records. In the onHide() of the action that runs that UX i would like to set the focus to the newly added record

              Thank you gandhi
What happens in your test, if you are in for instance in page1 in the grid, and you add a record that should go (according to the current records order ) to page3?
I already had a {grid.object}.Refresh() in my code which of course does not help in the case i mentioned above...

Re: In grid, select newly added row through UX upon entering

In that case how about ordering the source for the grid descending by the record number, then that should work right?

It's a reservations system, reservations are ordered by date, and i cannot change this...

Is the key to your table an autonumber?
                      SQL Server or MySQL?
Do you have a timestamp field in the table?

david you don't need any of that. just exploit alpha.

How? I haven't seen how to implement any solutions in this thread.

If a record is added to a grid via a UX... and a refreshed is performed on that Grid... that record will be on page x in row x.

I've not seen any code exploiting Alpha that will do this. Do you mean Client-side? Because Alpha is... actually... everything.

Yes Gandhi, that's what i need ( what you showed in the screencast ).

David, thanks for jumping in...Backend db is mariadb (mysql). The primary key for the main table (reservations) is int autoinc.
I have two timestamp fields, one CreateDT which holds the timestamp when creating the record and UpdateDT which holds the timestamp of last update.
