Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Publishing Problems

I am having a real hard time getting my first database to show up properly after Publishing it to my App Server. I can access it via Firefox but the first FIELD doesn't even show up. All other fields show up. If I use the working preview it shows up just fine., If I Live Preview it shows up just fine. Published it does not. The content is from a UX component. I tried to publish a grid component and that only works if using FireFox. It will not render correctly using IE11.
I'm new to AlphaAnywhere and find it real difficult to get working and very little step by step information for the new users. It would be real nice if they setup a step my step from start to finish publishing apps. I found a video (3rd Party) that show how to create different types of web components like UX and TabbedUX but then if I try to publish a tabbed ux it erros and states you can't publish this type. I guess I need some help and be pointed in the right direction as how to best create and publish things so end users can access via web browsers.
I an using the most recent version of both AlphaAnywhere Developer Edition, Version 12.3, Build 2089 and App server is on Windows 2008 RD Server local LAN.

2089 is the latest official release. 2091 is a pre-release and not recommended for a production environment.

ooppss...I think I am mistaken. I guess Alpha hasn't updated this update page (this page says 2089): http://downloads.alphasoftware.com/a...chDownload.asp

...this page says 2091 like Bill said: http://downloads.alphasoftware.com/A...easenotes.html

I updated Alpha Anywhere 5 min ago, deleted all published files, unchecked lookup for that field. deleted .a5w page, recreated the .a5w page and re-published. It still does not show up.

                      Re: Publishing Problems

On UXScreenshot2.png I noticed that the Security Groups is Bold. That usually means that there is something defined there. I have never Defined anything there when Security was turned off so I do not know what would happen.

I would be interested to see what happens if you move the field down a few positions instead of it being the "first" field. Does it show up?

                        Re: Publishing Problems

You hit it right on the head. It was bold. Even though security was turned off it was on earlier. (hence being bold) I clicked the bold link to open it and it popped up a message that Security is not activated for this project. when I clicked out of the field the bold went away, I then republished the UX page and the field is now showing up. Thank you for that info.

Since you are the GURU, would you know how to get a field on my page to display multiple rows of text instead of one long row of text? Thanks Again....
