Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

      Re: Set UX to not dirty

      I've been trying to figure out how to set a UX to "not dirty" for a while now. No one seems to know how to set the flag to "clean". It's easy to make it dirty.

      If anyone knows how to set it to clean, I'd like to know too.

      There are some ways to populate controls and keep the dialog clean however. If that's what you are looking for check out the populate method.

      Code:
      {dialog.object}.populate('stuff to populate',1,false,true);
      one of the flags on the end set's it to make the dialog dirty or clean, IIRC, the last one. I'd have to look it up myself as it's been a while.

      This link doesn't explain the flags, but they are there on the end, I"m using them. I don't even remember where I learned the flags are there.

        Re: Set UX to not dirty

        when I tried on version 11 using onDialogInitialize command to set a control, the dialog does not seem dirty unless I am adding something to other controls.
        in any component where you need to set the component clean
        wouldn't e.dirtyColumns = "" will set it back to clean status?

          It doesn't seem to work for me.
          I have a UX that uses the below code to sort a repeating section for viewing purposes and it makes things dirty. It's in the Client-Side "onRenderComplete" event.
          Code:
          {dialog.Object}.sortRepeatingSection('CONTAINER_2','LAYOUTORD','A');
          e.dirtyColumns = "" doesn't make it clean.

            I won't be of much help since the same action on version does not make the dialog dirty, I do not have version 12.
            sorry couldn't help.

              Re: Set UX to not dirty

              It makes mine dirty on both versions. I've just been living with it for a while. I'm not sure what the difference is in between our UX's but that's what's going on. I even commented out an onChange event to see if that was causing it. Anyway.... [/Hijack]

              Sure would be nice to have a way to set the dirty flag to false.

                    I think there's a lot more to this question than posted. You make changes to controls in onDialogInitialize... ok.

                    What is it about the UX, what controls, visuals, etc. that you like it to look as if it's not dirty. You've changed controls... the UX is, in effect, dirty. What effect do you want to have on the UX? Why do you want the UX to seem not dirty?

                        Re: Set UX to not dirty

                        Hi All,

                        I found a solution by using

                        {dialog.Object}.resetForm(false);

                        followed by Jinx's code except with the following flags

                        {dialog.object}.populate(_d,1,true,true);

                        I hope this helps someone

                        Cheers
