Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    generic way to hide grid footer?

    I am hiding a grid footer by putting the following CSS inside the grid properties

    under Miscellaneous
    under Local CSS definitions
    Code:
    .MobBlueGridFooter {
    	display:none;
    }
    But this won't work if I change to a new Style Name

    Is there a more general way to refer to the footer class that will work across all the Alpha styles?

    Re: generic way to hide grid footer?

    Actually that way I just showed above is a bit dangerous.

    It hides the Grid Footer EVERYWHERE (after that grid is loaded)

    My app structure is

    UX
    -Grid
    -- Row Expander Grid
    ---- Button in Row Expander Grid
    ------- opens popup window UX
    ----------- "menu List" Panel Cards with embedded Grids
    --------------- Grid in panel card
    ------------------- Row Expander Grid <<< here is where I put the CSS above, in Local CSS Definitions

    as soon as that bottom Row Expander Grid is loaded, I lose my Grid Footers EVERYWHERE, in all parent grids too, as I navigate back up the tree.

    So it appears that Local CSS Definitions is global....???

    and I am doing it the wrong way

    Can someone please enlighten me.... how to hide the Grid Footer for just one single grid only

    Thx

      Re: generic way to hide grid footer?

      Hi Michael,

      You can set the "Record navigation position" property to "No Navigation Bar" which will hide the navigation bar. There is another property which will suppress the footer if there is only one page of records.

        Hi Dave, thank you for the suggestion but it doesn't work

        I had already tried those properties settings before digging into the CSS

        I am trying to hide the areas circled in red

          I also tried "customize grid toolbar template" as per this post
          http://msgboard.alphasoftware.com/al...ad.php?97972#2

          and that didn't work either.

          And the grid footer stays there when I check "suppress footer if only one page"

          I am trying all these techniques in every grid shown above in the tree view from my first post, but the grid footers always remain there, empty but visible.

          (Doesn't make any difference if it is a parent grid, or an expander child grid)

            Get into your grid's Customize Grid's Toolbar template... either Read-only or Editable... or both if you want.

            Insert the default template.

            Add an Id into the first <tr> tag.

            e.g.
            <tr id="mygridtoolbar">
            <td colspan="{grid.colspan}" class="[class.gridPartToolbar]" nowrap="nowrap" align="{grid.RecordNavigatorAlignment}" >
            {grid.DetailViewAddNewRecordHyperlink}
            {grid.RecordNavigatorButtons}
            {grid.RecordsPerPage}&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
            {grid.toggleQBERowHyperlink}
            &nbsp;&nbsp;{grid.ActionButtonHTMLTemplate}
            &nbsp;&nbsp;{grid.ExportDataButton}
            &nbsp;{grid.HelpWindowButton}
            </td>
            </tr>

            In the Grid's Client-side onGridRender event...

            $('mygridtoolbar').style.display="none";

              Re: generic way to hide grid footer?

              YAY! Crisis averted. PEBKAC.

              Gaby's post is correct
              http://msgboard.alphasoftware.com/al...ad.php?97972#2

              I forgot to click on the radio button for when the grid is editable (see attached)

              Now it works!

              CustomizeGridToolbarTemplate_for_Grid_EDITABLE.png

              And that looks awesome David, thanks, I will have a play with it to understand more about the grid formatting.

              Can't believe it took a couple hours to work it out... guess I should not be programming after midnight

              Thanks again David.

                Re: generic way to hide grid footer?

                there is a property navigator bar selection no navigation bar, does this not exist in version 12
                if I do that in version 11 the navigator bar disappears, the same thing you called grid footer
                good way to call the navigation bar.

                  Re: generic way to hide grid footer?

                  There is a property: "Record Navigator position" with dropdown choices of
                  - No Navigation Bar
                  - Below Grid
                  - Above Grid
                  - Above and Below Grid

                  I chose the first one
                  And it did hide the navigation controls,
                  but the grid footer stayed there (visible but empty), until I customized the Grid Toolbar Template

                    true if you have an updatable grid.
                    if you have a non updatable read only grid the bottom navigator bar will disappear when record navigator position is set to none.

                      Ah ha! Good to know. So far all of my grids are updateable so I was wondering why that property seemed like it was not exactly working as I expected.

                      Perhaps in the help placeholder section at the bottom of the property page, for "Record Navigator position", alpha devs could add a hint in the future:

                      "to hide the empty grid footer (for updateable grids), use the Customize Grid Toolbar property"
