Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

for the target popup window there is size property width and height. if you remove them and leave them blank, the popup window will adjust the size to fit the controls.

I mean that the data in from the control map isn't populating (sorry if I wasn't clear)....For example: One of the mapped controls is "MRNum". When my target is a pop-up window the data is populated. If I change the target to DIV that data doesn't populate.

I can make a video if that would help...

would you use the second option
open a dialog to edit the current record
as opposed to the third one you have selected open ux as an alternate to edit the current record?

There doesn't appear to be a control map in the other UX options that's why I picked this one.... I need data from a few fields in the original UX to populate over to the popup UX. I still rather have it in a DIV. Alpha made a DIV option but it doesn't seem to work unless I'm missing something else.

The issue here is that the target options, other than Window, are not supposed to be there. The genie will be changed to catch that and let you know what to select. That's why the other options wouldn't work.

bummer .... I preferred the DIV option over a popup window.

I know that Action is great to use, but would you want to use a different action, open the UX in a DIV and populate it yourself? That's possible to do. I agree about the DIV or a Panel etc... keeps things contained.

I don't really know how to do that. Is there some code you could share?

Here is what I have: A data bound UX (SQL) with a DIV (the DIV was created using a static text field). I want to press a button that opens another UX (for new record entry) in that DIV. And of course some fields from the first UX need to populate into my second UX.

What happens when that new record is created and submitted? Should it be available to the data bound parent UX?

                    And... are you using PanelCards?

The second UX uses it's own separate SQL table. It's saved by the standard "submit" button alpha generates. When a new record is successfully saved a JavaScript alert window pops up telling the user the record was saved and that the window will now close.

                      No panel cards.

This should work out without changing your existing Child UX too much. This example uses PanelCards and the Parent and Child UX use the same table... but neither will make any difference.
