Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Signature Capture - List Control

Does Signature Capture work in the UX / List Control / Detail View? I can't seem to get it to work. Maybe it's a limitation.

It's working in today's pre-release build. At least the simple example I just tried is.

          Hi Jim,
Would such signature's be considered as "offline/disconnect" data ?
and would synch back to server when connection exist.

          Appreciate a feedback, Thanks

In my limited testing here on my iPhone, yes, this works like any other data in a list.

thanks, that is encouraging .... consider a delivery person
operating under "no internet" in out-urban area .///

i always thought the signature is an image , therefore stored differently.

It is stored as any other field, except it is binary field. So should work like any other field.

                  Screen Shot 2014-12-11 at 12.08.37 PM.png

The above picture is the error message I get when I have the signature control in my detail view (I'm not using the pre-release build as this is for production so I have the latest production build on my server, build 2446 and system admin build 4365). This also causes my child list to not populate correctly. When I change the signature control back to a text box the error no longer occurs and the child list functions correctly. If I however click on an item in the list that has a signature (or load data in which the top item has a signature into the list using the search) then this error doesn't pop up and it seems the child list populates correctly. I don't know if the build I have includes the pre-release stuff from back in October that the above people have mentioned as working so my first question would be is there a way to figure this out? If not, are you using the current pre-release in production and have you had any issues with it (very weary of going this route but if its the only way to get this functionality I may have no other choice). Thanks for the feedback!

These issues go away in the pre-release. However, I can get it to work in the developement environment, but when I tried on an ipad it acted like it was working, but it wasn't saving the signature. I spent two days on it and I haven't be able to get back to it.

Yeah I now have the signature showing up by going to the field name in the list and checking the box that says to embed the image in the html, however when I try to test this and hit the sync button I am getting an error saying "The database cannot find the data you requested"....? I have turned on showing debug information but nothing is showing up just this global error message.
