Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

How to not load data behind a Tab on a UX.

I have several tabs in a UX. I only want the first tab to load and show when the user first logs in. When they make a section from the List that is also on the UX, then the other tabs will appear and be active. I know how to Show/Hide a tab, but I do not want the data behind it to load until the user makes a choice on the List.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

I believe that the data "behind" a tab is only loaded when you actually select the tab; it does not behave like a tabbed ui where if you select to autolaunch a tab the data is actually loaded.

Thanks Frank but if I hide the tabs via a server-side show/hide, my UX takes about 12 seconds to load. If I do not hide the tabs, it takes 25. What I would like to do is hide them by using the server side show/hide and then some how reverse that when a user picks from the list. It is easy to hide them when the UX is first rendered, but I do not know how to show them once a selection is made for the list. Useing the client side does not give me the speed advantaged.

I don't think there is a delay in getting the data, but displaying. you said it correct initially "my ux loads " but attributed that to getting the data.

any sql server can and will get the data in less than a second ( assuming you are using sql server of some kind).
to check, run your query in command line or via any gui agents like navicat or toad likes, you will see the results are available in less than a second. they will give the data to alpha and alpha will have no problem assigning them to appropriate fields. so the data will be there.
it is the browser that is dancing around to calculate the spaces to fit for each field in relation to the rest and then in relation to the ux and then in relation to the screen.
take a look at any search engine, like google, it delivers the results in less than a second.

even 12 second load time when you hide some of the tabs may be considered too slow by your users. (it takes 12 seconds if you hide the rest of the tabs but takes 25 when you show the rest, because the browser does not have to do the calculation of space for the hidden tabs, yet)

you will need to redesign your ux, if you ask me, to improve your speed.
first remove all ux design just give a simple display. if the speed is not acceptable then do all the calculation at the server, create an efficient query to server can search and drop any images which take up time to transmit, then when satisfied add complexity to your display till it degrades, then you will know when to stop.
        thanks for reading
