Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

Actually, I thought it was very well formatted and easy to read. It would have taken me a lot longer to find your issue if it wasn't so nicely typed. :D

Re: Set focus on repeating section row in Xbasic while looping through rows

I am happy to that you solved your problem and the code is very nicely written and I understand what you are doing, but I have a silly question.
when you start off after selecting the customer you go to the server and fetch all the bills etc and when all the fields are filled you go back to the server to see if it is over the budget to fill a warning and asking them to skip or go ahead submit anyway, for a third time to reach the server.
why is it not possible to get all the information about the customer at the first call itself and then do the math in the dialog without a server call and put up the alert box and popup window and then submit or cancel the bill payment? is that not possible in your scenario?
looks to me, you are constantly calling the server!

Re: Set focus on repeating section row in Xbasic while looping through rows

Ghandi, when the vendor is first selected in drop dow box, i use Fill to get info about the vendor,...insurance expirations, waivers outstanding, defaults for bill, 1099 staus and more, but until the user enters the bill info a bill, I don't know what job and cost code user will enter. Checking over budget has nothing to do with vendor. I have to gather info from a budget table, change orders table, and actual costs table to determine if the bill entered will be over budget. Then I do check PUrchase Orders issued to vendor for the job to see if bill will go over POs issued. I also check for Change Orders for the job and cost code because they might need to do something different with the job markup percent for that. Users often enter several lines for different jobs and cost codes for one vendor. I was calling back to check for overages as user made changes on each line so decided to limit that by checking for overages only once when user clicks Submit. Job costing and posting all the double entry accounting in home building industry is quite complex and just requires a lot of callback. This was attempt to cut down on them in this heavily used part of the program.

ok, now I see. it is lot of checking to do.
                makes sense.
(all accounting systems are double entry, single entry systems, the Ferengi way, are prone to errors in mild manner of speaking. )

Re: Set focus on repeating section row in Xbasic while looping through rows

I don't know why I mentioned double entry accounting. I guess because I don't get to just submit records to a table. I have to use Xbasic to append one side of records and then the accounting offset of the record. Referring to how much callback is required due to things like that...
